It's a completely individual number for everyone. While people can make some general suggestions for you and you can look at numerous calorie counters online, it's really going to be what works for your body. I really like freedieting.com and have used that site to set my cals and had phenomenal success with their numbers (even though most people think their high). With 30 mins of exercise I'd set your activity to 3xs a week. Start their if you don't feel like you're losing enough then drop your cals by 100. Good luck!

I'd suggest checking out sparkpeople.com.... that's what I use to count calories, and once you put in all your info, it gives you a suggested calorie range to stay within.

best of luck, you CAN do this!!

Hi there!

For me, counting calories is the way to go! It's the only way I've been continually successful.

I'm 5'7'' and have about 65 lbs. more to lose. I keep my calories between 850 - 1,250, aiming for right around 1,000 on most days. You're much taller though, and depending on your activity level, you may need several hundred calories more than I would need.

Just be sure not to drop your calories too low for any amount of time. I know from experience that it really does drop your metabolism down, as well as draining you of energy. Check out some of the websites listed in the replies above and figure out what your DCI (Daily Caloric Intake) should be.

Good luck!
