Default Hi Everyone

I just wanted to introduce myself

I started my weight loss experience back in October 2009. I was nearing my 30th birthday and my scale read 292 pounds. I started with the Optifast diet at the local hospital through a weight management program. I talked with a lot of people and found that only around 5% of people were successful with the diet and the rest ended up with bariatric surgery. I decided that I wanted a lifestyle change and that would just take me owning up to my food choices and increasing my physical activity, so I decided to go along the road on my own.

I'm down to 270 pounds and have stalled completely. I'm hoping that I can kick myself back in gear and the motivation these forums (and everyone here) will provide will help me along.

My goal is to be 199 by the time I hit my 31st birthday in December. 10 months and 71lbs to go!

to 3FC's SHYLA ~ Congrats on the weight you have lost already. What plan are you on now? Are you doing calorie counting? Sometimes you have to shake things up a bit to get things moving again, ie vary how many calories you eat each day, say 1600/1800/1500/1700 ... and so forth (this is just an example). Take a look at the maintainers and the goal sections and read the stories of those who have lost weight for tips.

This is a very supportive place; and there are lots of great people here who will gladly help you with ideas too. We have age & weight related forums, food plan & exercise threads, tons of info, and so much more. Take a look around, read lots, then just jump right in wherever you feel comfortable ...

Thanks for the welcome. Counting calories, limiting carbs and adding exercise is all that I'm doing now. Trying to follow the gestational diabetes diet I was on when I was pregnant really. For some reason though, I don't stick to it as well when I'm not worrying about my baby. Though I should be worrying about me, sometimes we have strange priorities in regards to ourselves. So, I have it in my mind this is for me, but it helps that I want to be there for my son for a long time, so in the end, I use him for inspiration.

That's a great idea on changing up the calories. I try to stay around 1500, maybe I should change a few days that I know I won't be working out to 1200 to counter balance. Thanks for the suggestion!

Shyla,

I know that a stall in your progress is so frustrating but it is really a little bump in the road and we all have those in our way. Just mix things up a bit and see what happens. I applaude you for your acccomplishments this far .
