I just started Ideal Protein today....tips??

I just started IP today and I am trying to figure out how to best space my meals. I ate 1 protein at 7:00 am. and am starving now at 10:15. Is this just going to be the way it is for the first few days? I'm also super nervous becasue I'm a cheater and certainly cannot do taht on this diet, but it's past time to make some real changes in my life. Has anyone experience the hunger subsiding?

I also would get hungry at the same time. What I do since I am not a night snacker is have my snack between breakfast and lunch. If you are a night snacker also you may want to start with 4 packets a day. The hunger will go away though. Good luck!!:)

skittlescda 02-09-2010 05:51 PM

I just started my 3rd week and I can tell you that the food cravings will go away probably by day 4. At times I have to remind myself to take the third protein pack and I'm not hungry all the time. There are days that I may feel abit hungry but that is when I'm not eating my veggies or salad at lunch time. When I take advantage of what I CAN eat, I do just fine.

Good luck and welcome.......ask away!!

Trish

skittlescda 02-09-2010 05:54 PM

Oh and I meant to add that if you get that after taste that many mention they get at first and with some of the packs, for me that also went away after the second day.

I just met with my counselor today, starting the plan Thursday. I have researched this forum and truly think this is the right plan for me. I am hoping that this will be my last diet.

Justice 02-10-2010 01:13 PM

Thanks everyone. Good advice Alihal, I'm a total night snacker and Trish I have noticed that some packets have a funky tase that I don't think they should have...........so I'm glad to know that will go away.

hi, good luck with idealprotein. I felt the same as you did and my consultant suggested i nibbled on a few veggies that is part of my lunch. That should keep you going till lunchtime.

I've been on the IP for about 2.5 weeks, and i'm STILL hungry! My stomach constantly grumbles. Any advice on getting rid of the hunger?

Are you eating salads at lunch? Remember you can have unlimited lettuce so try that to get rid of the hunger pain.

About to start Ideal Protein

Hello Friends, I will be starting IP on Thursday. I have been reading how well so many of you are doing and am very impressed!
Before I start, I was just wondering about silly basics like Crystal Light (my provider said the only thing that is water is plain water). Does anyone know if we can have it? Ditto sugarfree gum. Also, what about herbal teas? I drink one that has buckwheat in it and since it comes from Japan I cannot read the label where it might tell me if it has carbs or not.
Thanks for any and all imput.

1st week on Ideal Protein...HELP!!!

Hi All, I'm on day 6 of Ideal Protein, and while I'm committed to losing this weight, I'm struggling a bit with the food choices. (I also felt sick on day 4 and had a massive headache for 24 hours!) I really dislike the soups (they actually make me gag), so any feedback on what you all are having for lunch would be great. I can't picture myself only having the shakes for the next few months. What Ideal Protein products do you like?

kellan 02-18-2010 03:26 PM

I think drinking extra water, and munching on sliced cucumbers sprinkled with sea salt curb the hunger. I just re-started IP after a 5 month 'break' and am on day 4. Not overly hungry, and the headache is now gone. I am not stepping on the scale yet, but I had to tighten my belt this morning. :) This is a great program!

Justice-
I go into work at 7 am so I thought I'd share my schedule with you. I wake up and drink 16 oz of water first thing. I try to hold off on breakfast until between 8 & 9. Then I'm usually hungry around 10:30, that's when I have my first cup of veggies. I eat lunch around noon and have my other cup of veggies late afternoon. Don't forget your unlimited lettuce in there too! I tend to have a salad around 3-4 as sometimes we don't eat until 7. There are some days that I just have to have my third packet before dinner, but I try to save it for after dinner because I love an evening snack.
The way I think about cheating is that cookie that you want is going to cost you $81! No food is worth $81!!! (that's the cost of one week for me.)
I hope this helps! Stick with it and it will pay off. Refer to this forum for advice and inspiration! You can do it!

Question?

Hi Everyone! Today is day 2--doing pretty good. Feel better than yesterday! Spreading out my IP foods since I can't seem to eat the whole package at one time. Enjoy the puddings the most and couldn't eat the soup or omelette again today--don't care for those too much. I feel full but oddly sort of hungry..does that make sense? I think this must be the cravings they talked about. Hopefully this "pit" in my stomach will subside. Also not used to drinking so much water--feel kind of water logged :dizzy:

Is it normal to have an after taste and does this subside in time?:?:

Thanks for your help!!
Lisa

on Day 9

I'm on day 9 of the diet and am hungry and not losing as much as what I thought I would lose cause I want this diet to go by fast...I know that it takes time but I don't want it to take 3-4 months since I don't need to lose that much weight. What phase do we get to eat fruits again?
Do we ever get back to eating regular food: spaghetti, eggs and bacon, Reese's Flurry maybe once/year and does the weight stay off...is there anyone on here that has been through this?

deinekatze 03-28-2010 11:40 PM

10 and so frustrated

I started the IP diet 10 days ago and I have to say it has been BEYOND rough. I have even cried due to being hungry or not being able to be normal (in my opinion)

I caved last night and actually had a little bit of REAL salad dressing (hate the Walden Farms stuff...too sweet for me) and today 3 lbs up! It is so frustrating. Today the HUGE hunger pain again and my fiance and I just said forget it and went out to eat.

I am starting strict again tomorrow but has anyone else experienced this? I have issues with Veggies... I gag... the only thing I can eat is Cucumbers with salt. I am also what is called a Fast Oxidizer so my thing is not carbs...honestly cold care less about those... but I need my fats or I starve! Veggies go right through me... I've been having 4+ bathroom visits a day and it is all greens completely undigested.

suggestions? help?

Day 2

I started IP yesterday and actually feel pretty good. I felt a little weak this morning while getting ready but that passed after I had my 'breakfast'. I'm so excited to start seeing results and REALLY hope this will be my last diet EVER!! :carrot:

CanadianMama 05-14-2010 12:38 PM

I'm on day 5 IP, and today is actually better that the first 4.

I had a headache until last night, but I am also going cold turkey with coffee and pop so not sure if that made it worse.

Today I actually made it from breakfast till lunch without eating my snack bar. The other 4 days I couldn't do that, I was almost crying I was so hungry.

My coach told me today that while lettuce is free, you shouldn't go crazy with it. I ate two heads of romaine yesterday, and he says that way too much.

I'm on day 5 and while I can't say the hunger has gone away, I am dealing with it better. Day 3 and 4 were horrific and I almost gave up.

but today was better, try having a bit of your vegetables as a snack .

I'm surprised I didn't cave last night but I made it through and Day 5 has been much easier.

My coach said the hunger pains are good for you, your body is saying its hungry and your not giving in. Very soon (or so he says) they will stop, but if you give in and eat a head of lettuce as I did your stomach is learning grumble and they feed me.

Don't know if thats a load of crap, and my coach just wants to make money

Leek Soup oh my lord, I was gagging trying to eat it. I am shocked when people say they like the food. I can't say I like any of the packets. The strawberry and banana pudding are alright when I add more water and ice and make it more of a shake.

the bars are almost tasty, just a weird after taste.

The Banana-Pineapple was something I was looking forward too, but it leaves a horrible after taste for me.

I know that if I want to stick with it, I will be living on the puddings for the next 4 months.

drink tea or water, sometimes when we think we're hungry we're usually just thirsty. you can also add flavoring to your water so either drops or adding lemon or cucumbers to your water. :)

Hey there....I just restarted IP on Thursday as well and with regards to the water I use Mio, it has 0 cals and 0 sugars in it and changes the flavour of your water. I like to mix one bottle of plain water with the next with mio. I like it a lot better than Crystal Light! Good luck and wishing you success!!

Headaches and Hunger

Hi Everyone,
I'm closing out my third week on IP, seems like 6 months for some reason. I wanted to comment on what has helped me with headaches and hunger. Sea salt is supposed to balance the electrolytes in your body which should get rid of a headaches during your first week. I was told to dilute a teaspoon in warm water and drink. But I preferred to just pour in my mouth since I was on the road HA!

Hunger is another story, I still get hungry. It's been easier during the work week since there is a certain flow to the day, and in the evenings, everyone eats what I make. The weekends have been really hard, it's been heck with the kids and husband eating everything I can't have. During the week, I have extra veggies I can snack on, sometimes I snack from lunch until I leave for home. Stay hydrated and keep pushing water.
Hope this helps!
