howdy!

  • Hi all! I stumbled across this site and it seems helpful!
I'm Chiky... (actually it's Sharon) I'm 32 and have been struggling with wieght issues all my life. I was a middle school history teacher, until recent budget cuts within the Los Angeles Unified School District changed that... (I'm optomistic that things will start to look up soon though!)
I have a wonderful boyfriend and get along with his 13 year old daughter.
I don't know what else to put... I'm not good at these whole introduction things...

I hate excersize. I LOVE food! Since I've been unemployed I've been watching WAY too much Food Network... which my boyfriend is reaping the benefits of! (I never used to like cooking...) As for weight loss... I'd LOVE to lose. I NEED to lose. But I'm fundamentaly lazy... I am trying though!

Welcome and good luck with your goals...

I was laughing a bit at the sentence above since most of us can say it (or have in the past). And how simple this whole process would be if we could just switch the words food an exercise in your sentence

Unfortunately it's not that simple, but one step at a time will have you on your way. Check out the success stories forum, that'll help get you going!
  • Welcome! Do you prefer to be called Chiky, or would Sharon be better?

Anyway, I'm so glad you are here and starting your journey to a healthier and happier you! I'm laughing at that sentence too because I could have written that! Well, I don't hate exercise exactly, but I seem to have a hard time making myself do it.

And I love love love the food network! I think maybe I'm going to have to stop watching it though because it makes me hungry to watch it!

I'm sorry for the loss of your job, I hope so much it will be only temporary and that this time you have now will be a gift in a way to find good health.
  • Hi! I am kind of new here too! I just want to say welcome and you'll find some great support.

I am also lazy. I'd like to be able to will the weight away, but that just hasn't worked for me in the past. So now I've joined a challenge and I'm accountable for what I do each day.

You'll definitely find what you need around here...just take a look around, the resources are endless.

    Welcome!

    .
you know, either works for me.
I've been known to respond to "hey you" or "weird redhead" (oddly enough I have problems when my students call me "Teacher")
  • Hi, Sharon, and welcome! I am glad you are joining us!

I wish you the best on your weight loss journey.

    Cheers,

    J
  • Hi weird redhead, oops, I mean Sharon or Chiky - oh nevermind, hey you!
I too am a lady of leisure thanks to budget cuts - so here we are on this journey with all these wonderful people - the support you need is here - we'll be here to cheer you on.

Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated and inspired. Try the 30 somethings and the weight loss support forums, they're active and very helpful - also the Success stories are a definite must for motivation.

There are bunches of people here with more to lose and some with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.

I've only been here since last fall, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of going off track or giving up. It has made all the difference in my success so far.

So welcome - you've found the right place - join in by inspiring us and being inspired!

All the best - good luck with your goals,
    Lee
