Are Gentlemen welcome here?

I am a 45 yo guy who is just under 500 lbs. I am transitioning to a vegetarian (octo lacto) diet. My marriage of 13 years is ending. :(
Is this a place a guy can find support. if it is only for ladies i understand.

Thanks

Phil

Phil, welcome!! We are definitely not ONLY for chicks, and I expect you will "meet" some of our resident roosters shortly!

Sounds like you need a good weight loss support system!! I hope you will find that here at 3fc!

Phil I'm still kind of a newbie myself but I can definitely say I've seen several guys here. jump in and post away :) I'm sorry about your marriage

Hi Phil!!! Welcome aboard! I don't think anyone here minds a few roosters in with us chicks. :)

Sorry to hear your marriage is ending, but congratulations on taking the first step on the road to becoming healthier and happier!

Hi Phil, we only accept cute men so let's see a pic, lol. I'm just kidding, no ill will meant. One of my good friends on here is a man. Charles Scott is wonderful. Check out the goal page. He used to weigh 515 but now weighs 225.

Thank Ladies!!! It should be an interesting ride

The more the merrier, Phil. Please don't hesitate to post here as often as you like. This is a great board with tons of info and support.

I'm very sorry about your marriage....at the same time, I'm so impressed with your choice to do something healthy! :carrot:

I can't wait to hear more about your situation and I'm sure you'll be an inspiration to many.

Welcome Phil. We all know the journey is hard, and the first step is the hardest, so bravo to you.

jazzang 01-17-2010 12:43 AM

Welcome!!!! You are more than welcome to post here. You might enjoy the abundance of us chick-a-dees :D:D:D

Congrats on taking your first step towards meeting the new happy and healthy you!

:wel3fc: Hi Phil!
Men, especially gentlemen, are very welcome - although you all are in the minority ( but I'm sure you won't mind, will you?). So sorry about your marriage - it is never an easy thing no matter the circumstances - but it sounds like you're off to a great start to a healthier and happier you - the support you need is here.

Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated and inspired - you'll be a wonderful and welcome addition to any of them. Perhaps try the 40 somethings, the 100 lb club, the 300+ club and the weight loss support forums, they're active and very helpful - also the Success stories are a definite must for motivation. There's even a Men's thread, although not too active - the guys post all over the site. And check out the Vegetarian forums as well!

There are bunches of people here with more to lose and some with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.

I've only been here since last fall, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of going off track or giving up. It has made all the difference in my success so far.

So welcome - you've found the right place - join in by inspiring us and being inspired! :df:

All the best - good luck with your goals,
Lee

Welcome Phil! Not only do we have guys here, we have guys who have lost over 200 pounds - so you are not alone!

I'm sorry to hear about your marriage, but good for you for deciding to take care of your health. I look forward to seeing you around the boards!

Oh, and there is a thread devoted to the men, but you are absolutely welcome anywhere on the site.

Hey Phil,

The girls are usually faster posters, but there are a number of us guys here. Welcome. I find this to be a good place to post thoughts, see ideas, be accountable, etc...

I've been tracking my journey in this thread, feel free to stop by and say hi...
