Default Another newbie to the site

Hello Everyone,

I'm yet another newbie to this site. and wanted to introduce myself.
I'm overweight and realize my situation. In 2001 I used low carbs to shed 75+ pounds.... which over the last 8 years has managed to find itself back on my body :-(

I realize I am addicted to cabs and they love sticking with me.

Along with diet change I will be working to become more physically active and would like to have support from people who have walked this path before me.

I'm in Florida so the beach is near me yet I find I dont enjoy going because of my size.

I ride my own motorcycle and love being with those who mean the world to me.

Thank you for taking the time to read over my introduction.
if you have any questions please ask... I'll be happy to reply ASAP.

Hi Athena!

I'm glad you joined us! I hear you about being near the beach and not liking to go because of your size - I'm in southern CA 10 minutes from the beach and feel the same way. How cool you ride a motorcycle!

You've done it before and you can do it again! This is a great spot for support. Just jump in and get posting so we can get to know you!

Welcome Athena!

I'm pretty new to 3FC as well, but have already found the other members here to be EXTREMELY supportive and helpful. I'm confident you will find the same support and encouragement here.

Congratulations on re-committing to your weight loss. You can do it! I'm sure you will find you are not the only one addicted to carbs. I know I am! I am finding it helpful to count calories/WW points so that I can keep eating the foods I love, but in moderation. Whatever technique you use to lose weight, I'm sure you will be able to find a 3FC group that can support you with your method of choice. Good luck!

Hi Athena!
So many of us have done the same thing, lost only to gain it back (& sometimes more) - but sounds like you're back on track, no looking back, no beating yourself up, just moving forward - the support you need is here to achieve your goal of a healthier and happier you - we'll all be here to cheer you on.

Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated and inspired - you'll be a wonderful addition to any of them. Try the Carb Counters and the weight loss support forums, they're active and very helpful - also the Success stories are a definite must for motivation. There's even a biker chicks thread for motorcycle chicks like you!

There are bunches of people here with more to lose and some with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.

I've only been here since last fall, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of going off track or giving up. It has made all the difference in my success so far.

So welcome - you 've found the right place - join in by inspiring us and being inspired!

All the best - good luck with your goals,
Lee

Welcome to the forums, athena. I, too, was a carb-oholic. Since my diabetes diagnosis, I've had to drastically cut back and don't have the cravings I once did. It's good to hear that you are motivated to make the necessary lifestyle changes for the new you. There are so many great support groups, I'm sure you'll find one that fits your needs. Best wishes on reaching all your goals.
