I just joined the forum. I have been dieting for about a 6 weeks. I have gone up and down for years, and i am at my heaviest now. A stressful job, and then a stressful job loss, triggered me to put back on a lot of the weight I lost several years ago. I am ready to lose the weight permanently for my health. I am 45 and do not want to feel out of breath and sluggish anymore.
Hi greentara!
I can certainly relate to the stress and the job loss, gaining back a lot that I had lost - congrats on your success so far - sounds like you're off to a good start with a can-do attitude for a healthier you - the support you need is here.
Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated, inspired and entertained! There's also info and first hand advice on different eating plans and exercise to help get through the ups and downs.
There are bunches of people here with more to lose and some with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.
I've only been here a few months myself, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of cheating or giving up.
So welcome - you 've found the right place - join in by inspiring us and being inspired!
Thanks everyone for the kind words of encouragement! I am very excited to have found this board. I am really ready to take the weight back off, and although I am using Weight Watchers as my diet plan, I really need the extra support that an active forum can provide. The only reason I am using weight watchers is that I am used to counting points, and it has worked for me in the past. I am open to any and all suggestions on how to tweak that plan for best results. (I am doing it online, I hate going to those meetings.....)
My body responds well to the proportions of nutrient found in the Zone as well, and definitely responds well to whole foods.
I've never tried ww, but my body really seems to be loving the whole foods. I feel good. I just started calorie counting. Is that similar to ww?
WW let's you eat what you want within a certain amount of "points"/calories a day, but allows you decent size portions of whole foods. They encourage you to eat whole foods. I find that I get less hungry on whole foods and get hungry right away on processed foods.
welcome greentara! good luck on your weight loss journey!
Thanks LeslieLou! Merry Christmas! And wish me luck on staying on plan today and tomorrow. So far so good, I have baked cookies without eating any of the batter or cookies!
