Default Tired of having that Donut around me!

Hi all! I'm so happy I found this site because I am sick and tired of being overweight.. I weighed 175 lbs yesterday and I'm 5'6. I'm 53 years old and finally completed perimenopause which was horrible so now I reached menopause which I find is much better compared to the peri..

Anyway, my fat all goes to my middle and it looks like a have a huge DONUT around me..

I first put on the weight when I became ill with chronic lyme disease back in 1995 and little by little the weight crept up on me. I am better now but during all those years I gained 50 pounds and I want to do something about it.

I started Atkins yesterday and today is day 2. I had tried Atkins about 6 years ago and lost 20 pounds but then my Dad passed away and I didn't care what I ate. My biggest weakness is bread not sweets.

So that's it for now. I will be posting on the Atkins portion as I see many people there.

If anyone has any pointers for me I would much appreciate it.

Oh, what is a Trackback?

Thanks,
Toby

Hi Toby and welcome.

I've lost almost 40 lbs. in about 6 months on Atkins.....and this is also not my first time with Atkins as I lost about 30 lbs. on it back in the 1990's and kept the weight off for quite some time. I love Atkins....and there's an Atkin's section on here where I've been posting too.

Bread? What's that? I forgot. Can't believe I've had no bread or sugar for 6 months....don't even really miss them anymore, to be honest. Just had a cheese omelet for lunch...yum.

Thanks for all the welcomes! Much appreciated...

I remember I didn't crave bread when I was on Atkins before and that really surprised me. Funny, with all the weight I put on, I never craved sweets, just lots and lots of bread. Guess I'm a breadaddict!

I'm really looking forward to this new journey and fitting back into the clothes in my closet..

Deena, nice to meet you as well as everyone else!

Hi Toby!
Sounds like you're ready to go -the support you need is here - you can do this - and we'll all be here to cheer you on!

Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated, inspired and entertained! There's also info and first hand advice on different eating plans and exercise to help get through the ups and downs.

There are bunches of people here with more to lose and some with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.

I've only been here a few months myself, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of cheating or giving up.

So welcome - you 've found the right place - join in by inspiring us and being inspired!
