Hi! New to the forum and to weight loss

Hi everybody. My name is Sandra and I could use some help and support on weight loss.
I have always been not- too- fat, not- too- skinny, until about a year ago. I've always been around 112lb, which has always been great for me since i am really petite. I am currently 33 years old and in the past year I gained 16 lbs (I'm now 128 lbs)which has scared me a lot as I seem to be gaining more. If I keep going at this rate...just do the math :o I don't know what the **** happened to my metabolism, but it's like it hit a brick wall and came to a halt :dizzy: Everything (and I mean everything) I eat seems to be going straight to my thighs, butt, calfs and stomach... and the upper part of my arms too. All the wrong places. I'm short (5.4) which really sucks when you gain weight. 16lbs on a lot of people wouldn't make much a difference but on my frame...yep, it doesn't look good at all. My pants don't fit me anymore, my coats are too tight, the tall boots over the jeans are so tight that the lower end of my legs look like little sausages :p

My goal is to loose the 20lbs I gained in the past year. I think it is easier to tackle the problem now and it is starting to affect my self esteem :(

Anyway, enough complaining for today.
I'm married and I have 2 boston terriers.

I'm new, too, Sandra. Though I'm from the other end (been overweight for a long, long time), I think you're right. If I'd had the support system and ability to take care of this problem back when I was a kid 10 years ago, it wouldn't have gotten so out of hand, I'm sure.

I've got two dogs, too. A lab x husky and a german shepherd x alaskan husky. ^^ Both under a year old.

:welcome: 20lbs is totally doable!!! i personally do calorie counting. and it works great for me.

in order to lose weight, i heard that its a good idea to have a particular plan of action mapped out. what you're going to do food wise, and what you're gonna do exercise wise.

if you like feel free to pm me, and i can help you! or join us at this thread, where we confess our daily food and exercise :)

the only reason i have lost is soley due to the amazing support of this website!!! and learning as much as i can about the biology of losing weight, especially through jillian michaels :)

:wel3fc: Hi terrierchick!

Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated, inspired and entertained!

There are lots of people here with more to lose and lots with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.

I've only been here a short time myself, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of cheating or giving up.

So welcome aboard - join in by inspiring us and being inspired!
