I'm also new here, so I hope we both find what we need.
My dad (step dad) basically ignored me so I'm not sure what is worse!
However, I got both the depression gene and the fat gene from my biological father so I grew up slim till my 20's then piled it on after my first child. Now I'm the fat one in a family of tall, slim, gorgeous girls, and a father who at almost 60 runs marathons and cycles daily. My sisters are great and never really mention my weight at all, they just love me for who I am. My mum makes comments along the lines of, why don't we make a nice salad. Fortunately, I now live in Canada and they all still live in Europe, so I don't have to listen too much.

As for the veggies, the suggestion of putting them in the spaghetti sauce really works - you can make them as small as you like and you really don't notice them. Another option is putting a load of veggies together in foil, with a little olive oil and some herbs and barbecuing it - really tasty.
Anyway, I hope you find what you're looking for!
