Silly question from a 1st timer in Pennsylvania

  • Hello all! I stumbled across this website when I was searching for information on the number of calories burned by going up a flight of steps.

Background on me...silly question at the bottom.

I had Gastric Bypass Surgery on 4-20-2001 with a starting weight of 340lbs. I got down to about 160lbs by 2004 (Size 10/12). My ultimate goal weight since surgery has always been 150 lbs, and I was approx. 10 away at my lowest weight. Over the past 5 years I rebounded. My Dr.'s scale read 197 lbs on July 21, 2009. (YIKES!) Seeing that I was pushing the 200 mark again freaked me out enough to get me back in the saddle...as of 10/3/09 I am 178lbs.

My current goal is to be at 165 by the end of this year. That was my weight when I met my husband...so I have 13 lbs to lose in the next 12 weeks...a safe and reasonable goal. My ultimate weight goal is still 150, long term.

So...my silly question is: What do I put as my starting weight and goal weight?
  • LOL - whatever you want! Personally, I'd probably use the 197 and 150.

Good job on the "freak out" - so many people rebound a lot more than that before they get motivated.

    Good luck!
  • Welcome to 3FC and good luck with your goals.
