Default It takes too long to shave my legs...

and that's the only reason I am losing weight. Time-efficient hair removal.

I feel like in order to really break through my plateau, I need to tell a little of my story.

I got in a car accident and couldn't exercise. Couldn't walk for quite some time, even. I played Nintendo, barely ate and gained 100 lbs. But that all happened in 2002. My metabolism got way wacked out living on about 300 calories a day.

In 2006 I lost 20 lbs just by walking and jogging but I messed up my knees because @ 250 lbs, jogging is tough on the joints. So I focused more on how I was eating.

By 2008 I was down to 190 lbs but then I got ambitious about other things. I started traveling in and out of the US. I decided on a whim to move to NYC that August, and did so in November. This year I enrolled in photography school. I gained back 30 lbs.

Now, in Oct, 09 I'm back down to 210.

I love running in Brooklyn. I feel super sexy when I run. In fact, I feel sexy and happy and healthy all day on the days that I exercise.

In September, I turned 30. I celebrated for the entire month. Then I woke up one day and said, geez, Bri, you really need to lose these last 50 lbs. So I spent about 8 hours creating a wall of motivation.

This wall is collages from magazines like Self, Shape, etc, even Glamour and Cosmo. Some of it is guilt, inspiration, tips, exercises, tracking charts, grocery lists, ideas, pictures of places I want to go, maps, jogging paths, gear/gadgets/equipment to waste money on, and my favorite part... REWARDS.

Each time I meet a 5lb or sometimes 10lb goal, I write the date and my weight on the outside of the envelope and then I am allowed to go buy myself whatever random award is in that envelope. So eventually my goal wall will become an accomplishment wall. And since I'm such a '3', accomplishment is a huge turn-on for me.

SO

I'm 5'10, 210 lbs, aiming for 160-170.

My next reward is for reaching 200 lbs and I'll get to join a gym. Thankfully, since this IS NYC, there is a gym a 1/2 mile from my house which is $50/year. It's at the top of Sunset Park, which has the most beautiful view of the entire skyline from the Statue of Liberty to the Empire State Building and just that view alone makes the jog (on an incline going up 150 ft elevation) TOTALLY worth it.

So I KNOW I can do this. I absolutely can. I am achievement oriented and tired of kitty-footing around and doing this half-a**ed. I CAN DO THIS.

(but I will need some help)

because I just can't waste this much time shaving my legs in the morning.

(please help!)

bri

LOL!!!!!!!! Your "last straw" of leg shaving cracks me up. Way to go on renewing your motivation and commitment to your goals!! I've been "a runner" for only a handful of months, and I'm moving to Brooklyn at the end of this month - can't wait to find new fave places to run.

hehehe, I so love your motivation...of course, you could lose 50 lbs and never shave again if you just amputate your legs...just sayin...

Welcome!

You know, shaving will cut down on wind resistance when you run! LOL!

Love your wall of motivation idea. Might have to try that.
