part of the plan
Hi, I joined today as part of a weightloss and overall health plan I've been working on for a while. I have type II diabetes and used to take insulin shots and oral medications, but about a year ago I quit meds and started controlling my blood sugar with diet and exercise. I followed a really specific diet close to South Beach, but I modified it by testing what foods raised my blood sugar and eliminating those. I know how to eat to keep myself well and lose weight. In the first six months, I lost 50 lbs by following this diet and going for frequent walks. Lately, however, I've been really slacking off, and some of the weight is creeping back on. I've been "cheating" a lot and not walking much. Part of the problem is that I lost my walking/diet partner and accountability and encouragement are really important to me.
So I've spent a lot of time writing out my goals, my setbacks and obstacles, and ways to overcome the obstacles. I need to really focus and push right now, because I really, really don't want to be back on medications. Overall, I have about 50 more lbs to lose before I am "normal" by medical standards, but I have a very small frame and I don't carry extra weight well at all. However, I'm also a mom of 3 and in my 30's and I don't expect to ever look model thin.
So that's my weightloss story and I'm glad to be here!
