I was Googling to see if Lean Cuisines were helpful in portion control and it led me here! I poked around and after reading NightengaleShane's success story (which is SO similar to my struggles) I decided to park right here.
I'm 24, graduated from the University of Connecticut last year and am currently working in my mom's law firm while I apply for graduate/law schools for fall 2010.
My weight has been a source of struggle for me since I was about 12 years old although I didn't become overweight til my sophomore year of college. I was a competitive figure skater from age 7 til age 19. So much pressure was put on us to keep our weight down so when I was 12 I started to be VERY conscious about weight and eventually developed an eating disorder. My lowest weight was 108 pounds and I was never happy. During college I got counseling and eventually curbed my destructive eating behaviors.
I still struggle today with disordered eating tendencies and the mental aspect of self-loathing of my body that I just can't seem to kick. I am the classic yo-yo dieter. Down 15 pounds, up 20, down 10, up 12. Just a few months ago in June I was down to 150 pounds and thrilled to be finally on my way to goal. A few short months later I sit here at 163 pounds - The highest I've ever been. My jeans are tight. I don't wanna go to the club with my friends. I turn down dates because I don't want anyone to see me right now. I'm miserable.
BUT! I'm doing something about it. When I skated I was 120-125 pounds. That's a lil small for me now being in my mid-20's. My goal is 135 pounds. I hired a personal trainer and am in my second week with him. I switched gyms from Planet Fitness to L.A. Fitness which has been extremely motivating. My main issue is food though. Can we say portion control? My plan is 1200-1300 cals a day and will lean on Lean Cuisines (pun intended) to help me through dinner (the toughest meal for me). My 25th birthday is in March so I'd love to hit my goal by then!
Aside from dieting I'm in a sorority, I love shopping, I tutor, I freelance in makeup artistry, I horseback ride, and love to travel.
