Default Hi everyone!

Hello all...I'm new here and hoping to lose weight (alot of it) get motivation, ideas and suggestions from others. I guess I can start by saying I'm 25 y/o, have a 2 year old son and work Full Time as a supervisor at a doctors office. I have hypothyroidism and that is where my weight problems begin. I was a healthy 120lbs at 5'2 and slowly went up to 160lbs. After giving birth I was about 180'ish and a couple of months ago said no more and went down to 165. Now I don't know what to do...need a push, motivation. Please help!!! I want to have another baby soon but as odd as this may sound, I want to lose weight first..don't want to gain more weight on top of what I have!!!! I want my 2nd pregnancy to be very healthy.

P.s. I dont have a plan and I'm a VERY picky eater...what has worked for you?? Please share.

Hi Lil Pixie, and welcome

I'm new here too, and just starting a new diet. I've dieted before, but this time is different... I'm going to change my habits and make the weight loss stick.

Can you tell us what you are stuck on? How did you lose your 15lbs?

You're already off to a great start, and I'm sure everyone here can keep you motivated til you are back to a comfy weight!

Well...I exercised alot, I was very focused--I did a little bit of everything. Whenever I was in a rush I would grab a Slim Fast. I tried eating every 3hrs, for example in the morning (around 8) I would have a Slim Fast or scrambled egg whites with a slice of turkey bacon, around 11 I would have a Fiber One bar or almonds or nuts, then I would have lunch...sometimes a Slim Fast with plus a 200 cal meal or I would have a sandwich or a salad, then around around 2 or 3 I would have sugar free Jell-O or sugar free pudding and then for dinner I would have like 1 cup brown rice with chicken or lean meat. I also exercised alot...I have a treadmill at home and I would alternate between jogging or walking at a high incline. I really don't know why I stopped...I'm very upset I stopped. My job can be stressful and tiring, and then running behind a toddler sometimes I just don't have the energy, but I don't want that to stop me. I also think because I didn't see a huge change in myself...I didn't go down a size or anything so maybe that made me lose motivation. It just really sucks...I don't feel pretty or sexy or anything. I just completely let myself go and let my fatness take over. I feel like I now look abandoned and sloppy and I don't want to look or feel that way...I'm too young to feel the way I feel. I need a push...a jump start, something to get me going. A couple of weeks ago I went through my closet because I'm moving. So I decided I was going to donate whatever I just wasn't going to use any longer and pack whatever I don't fit in but hope to fit in sometime in the future....my closet and drawers are empty. I'm not exagerating...and that made me cry. It was so depressing. I refuse to buy "big" clothes b/c I don't want to get comfortable in a big size...but the truth is I don't have clothes. ::sigh:: I just don't know what to do any longer. I REALLY need help.

thanks igetfitnstrongforme--I just took a look at exercise accountability thread...seems like something I will be doing. (currently have a sinus infection along with an "almost double ear infection" like the dr said so I really can't do exercise right now due to all the pressure I feel in my head--but can't wait to get started!!)

Welcome to 3FC! I'm glad you're here! Surf around and settle in. We have forums based on age, eating plan, exercise and more!

Check out the Dieting with Obstacles forum for some hypothyroid support. You can do this!

If you are picky eater, this may work for you. When I've had success losing weight, I did it by eating EXACTLY the same foods every day. I figured out amounts and calories, and I would actually follow it as sort of a daily schedule, like ok it's 10am, time to eat my morning snack. And by eating only the exact same thing every day I was never tempted to stray, because I could easily tell myself, I'm not having any of those brownies my coworker brought in, because it's not part of my diet. Much easier to convince myself that way, than by saying, oh I can spare a few calories for a brownie... that's just a downhill road!

Some people would tell me it must be a really boring diet if I'm not getting any variety, but I found having no variety was exactly what made it easy.. my tastebuds got familiar with what I was eating and stopped craving anything else.

I agree with the no variety not being boring for me as well

i am also a calorie counter who eats a low variety of food. its easier when you know most of the things you're eating by heart. however, i do seem to subconsciously change it up every few months. ill go through a stage where im eating tons of life cereal, and then ill switch to bran flakes for a few months. its like my body gets sick of one thing, so i switch to another for a while, then switch back.

it seems like when you're presented with too many choices, you're more likely to pick something that isnt as good for you.

that's a good thought....I just went and bought frozen fruits to make some shakes and also brought some protein and stuff to play around with.

Good suggestions ladies...give me more!! I'm getting motivated to do this!!
