Default New and trying to lose baby weight!

Hi everyone! I'm new here, and I thought I'd introduce myself!

I've always had troubles with my weight, but got it under control in high school and college. Then right before my wedding I got into a car accident and broke my leg. With the stress of being a newlywed and having a broken leg at the same time, I gained a lot of weight. Since then I've had a baby and I've been having a really hard time getting the baby weight off! I would love love love to be the weight I was in college (or better yet, high school, but I know that's not going to happen).

So any tips and advice would be appreciated!

I would suggest setting a goal that is specific. A lot of people like to start out with 10% as a first goal. For me I started at 227, so 23lbs was my first goal. My second goal was to get under 200. Third goal is to get back to "pre-baby #4" weight (or 185).

Next, you might look up your Basal Metabolic Rate to get an idea of how many calories you need every day. Add 300-500 if you are nursing. This formula works for me anyway.

I know how hard this is with little ones about! Time is precious for sure!! I like to use exercise tapes. If you check them out from the library you can try them first. Also, eBay is great for cheap ones.

Best wishes, and good luck with your goals!

With the support you will find here I am not suprised if you get down to your college or highschool weight!
My advice would be to find a plan that you can see yourself living with for a long time. I chose calorie counting bc it allows me to eat all foods as long as I am in my calorie range and it is free . So find a plan try it out if it works great if not maybe try another until you find what works best for you.
I am glad that you found 3FC welcome to the board!

Hi VeVe!
You'll find many here trying to lose their baby weight too -sounds like you're ready to get started - the support you need is here!

Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated, inspired and entertained! There's also info and first hand advice on different eating plans and exercise to help choose the right ones for you and get through the ups and downs.

There are bunches of people here with more to lose and some with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.

I've only been here a few months myself, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of cheating or giving up.

So welcome - you 've found the right place - join in by inspiring us and being inspired!

All the best - good luck with your goals,
Lee
