just a hello ;)
my name is julia and i am 28 years old with one son. i managed to maintain my pre-pregnancy weight until he was about 3. i suffer from severe anxiety attacks and agoraphobia. spending so much time at home i guess equaled boredom which to me equaled eating!! up until i was about 24-25 weight was never an issue for me. i ballooned up from 150 to 220 lbs in about 18 months. 2 summers ago i crash dieted for about 4 months and lost 30 lbs, but of course gained it right back.
i decided last new years eve that i was really ready to lose the weight. its somewhat of an uphill battle because the medications i take for anxiety cause weight gain. i have stuck with my diet for 7 long miserable months and have lost just shy of 40 lbs, (39.2 to be exact). there have been TONS of frustrations, weeks where i didnt lose anything, weeks with small gains, but i've managed to not just say "screw it" and give up. the last few months have been particularly hard because 30 and 40 lbs is a lot of weight loss, and its totally depressing to have lost that much and STILL be fat. im just going to keep plowing forward, in july i lost NO weight for 3 weeks, and then lost 5 lbs in two weeks. i didnt change anything those two week, so maybe i had water weight or something.
2 things have really helped me out on my weight loss journey. portion control is a big thing for me because i dont want to give up foods that i love. its easier for me to eat less of things i like than more of things i dont like.
another thing that REALLY helped me was this. i took 2 sheets of paper, and typed out every pound from 200 to 175 (my mini goal) in 0.2lb increments (200, 199.8, 199.6, etc) and every week on weigh day i crossed off the numbers. im at 180.8 right now so im getting close to being done with them, and then ill print off new ones to my next mini goal. it REALLY helped me to see my progress and even weeks where i only lost 0.4 lb, it was very satisfying to cross off the numbers.
anyway, thats maybe an idea that could help some of you and i look forward to getting to know all of you and would love to hear any ideas you have that might help me!
