Default new here

I am new to this forum. I was at an AA meeting last night and was talking to a lady who had attended an OA mtg. We were sharing how food binging had replaced alcohol use. Actually I have always had food issues...lots of ups and downs as far as my weight goes. When I am stressed it seems to be up. I have a poor body image...I am not actually overweight according to the charts but feel like I am. With my body shifting as I get older its even harder. I exercise most days which helps but still fixate on food. Just wish I could eat normally. Kind of like I wish I could have drank normally. At least with alcohol you can just give it up!

Coming from an alcoholic family, I know all about the replacement thing. My mom replaced booze w/church (and then, unfortunately, pills ). When you have an addictive personality it's very difficult to find a happy medium, especially with food since (like you said) you HAVE to eat. You'll find tons of support in Chicks in Control http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/chicks-control-64/ which deals with over-eating & binging. Good luck!
