Cool New! any advice?? :)

Hi, I'm new here. Never posted on one of these websites before but I guess I'm hoping to see that other people are in the same position as I am. Sick of the extra weight and trying to stay on track to lose it! And keep it off too!!

My name's Becky. I'm 5'9" and I weigh 220. My overall goal is to get down to 160. I've been overweight my whole life. 2 years ago I lost a lot of weight through walking and eating less but I went through a bad breakup and was depressed then started partying a lot and never went to the gym anymore so I gained it all back. I was eating a lot of junk food and I'm back to where I started. This time I want to do it right and I know what I did wrong last time.

2 & 1/2 weeks ago I started my own workout plan. Walking with my dog for 2 miles as well as going to the gym and using the elliptical for 30 mins then weight training for a half hour. ( I alternate between upper body and lower body from day to day and do abs every day). I've been doing all this on most days (5+ per week). I'm also eating a lot less and trying to stick to low calorie, low fat, high fiber foods. I've increased the amount of water I drink quite a bit too and have also not had much alcohol for a change. So far I haven't lost a single pound and I'm trying not to get discouraged but any help from you guys would be great too Thanks!

Hi Becky and welcome to 3FC!

I say it would be difficult to pinpoint an issue without knowing your complete diet. You say you are trying to stick to your plan but what does that mean exactly? You go over a little or a lot? Under?

If you don't yet, I suggest keeping track of what you eat. Maybe use one of the online places like sparkpeople.com or fitday.com. Then you can know exactly how many calories and the such you are actually consuming.

This is the best place to come for support and encouragement . You seem to have the right attitude. Believe in yourself. Love yourself. Stay focused and committed. You CAN do this

Hugs
Michelle

Hi Becky,

What helps me is to keep a food journel and count calories. That allows me to see exactly how many calories I am taking in and how many calories I am burning when I exercise. Good Luck!

For the first week I was writing things down and since then I haven't but I've been eating around 1200 calories ech day or 1500 at the most. I've still continued measuring out serving sizes though even though i stopped writing everything down. I've been eating lots of vegetables like salads, peas, corn, peppers and onions and things like veggie burgers ( i like them better than regular burgers :] ) grilled chicken, tuna fish, turkey sandwhiches ( on whole grain bread ) and once in a while a frozen entree like lean cuisine or smart ones.
