Hi my name is Sam and I need to lose weight. I have severe back problems and my weight is not helping me any. I am not sure where to start. I do not eat red meat at all I eat Chicken and turkey only. I do eat veggies also and I love fruits. I am also needing to exercise.
I just need motivation badly

Hi Sam =D

I'm new to the Forum too...just joined yesterday...but I spend a lot of the night reading a whole bunch of old threads, and they've already helped to inspire me to work harder at losing weight...so hopefully they'll be able to do the same for you!

For me, I found the best place to start was to begin controlling my portion sizes...That was my issue, I always ate way too much. It wasn't until a couple weeks ago that I learned a serving of pasta was only one cup cooked...I'd never even bothered to read the bag before...I had been eating probably a good 4 cups of pasta in one sitting. That's just an example...I've found that I was overeating pretty much EVERYTHING. Trying not to eat more then the recomended portion size in the nutritional info on a food should help.

I also cut out all soda (except for the occasional diet grape soda...my life saver <3...i'm not one for diet soda, i think it tastes like drinking bags of equal...but that stuff is gooood. lol) and started just drinking water and crystal light. (and they also sell crystal light popsicles if you live somewhere super hot like me and need something to cool you off =D)

Just take it slow. Small steps are easier to achieve then big giant leaps. You can't change your entire lifestyle in a day...just keep with it!

Good luck and I hope everything works out for you!

Hi Sam,

Welcome! Taking it one day at a time is a great idea. And if you fall off the wagon so to speak with one meal, get right back on with the next. don't think: "Oh, well. I'll try again tomorrow"
What kind of motivation and encouragement do you want to hear?

Lynn
