New Person, Old Problem... *sob*

  • 3 years ago, I was on Phentermine and successfully lost 30 pounds, almost reaching my ideal weight of 125-130 pounds. I stopped taking the pills because it was affecting my work due to the heart palpitations and giddiness and tried sticking to regular exercise.

However, due to my heavy workload over the years, I almost stopped exercising (unless you count playing Nintendo Wii as exercise) and put back on those 30 pounds which I once lost! I don't want to go back to pills again though.

I want to feel beautiful and confident again, but it is just so hard. My boyfriend thinks I look perfectly fine (but well... for some reason men can't tell the difference *sigh*). My bestie recommended that I can try looking for an online weight loss support group and keep a diary or something, so here I am.

Hope to learn lotsa stuff here! I'm currently 165lbs (doesn't seem much, but Singapore is the land for the skinnys and I look like a giant amidst them) and hoping to lose at least 18lbs by Christmas so that I can wear a Santarina outfit without feeling embarrassed. My ultimate goal weight is 125lbs, and I want to be slim permanently this time.

  • You're in the right place! It sounds like you are off to a good start because you set a REASONABLE goal of 18 lbs. lost by Christmas. The first key to success is to be both optimistic AND realistic.

Lots of us have lost and then regained. You might want to check out the maintainers' forum here. Those folks are VERY inspiring and have really helped me get my head on straight to succeed at this venture.

    Welcome and dive right in!
  • Hi!!! I'm so glad you found this community! It's great and so supportive! I totally agree with you that you shouldn't go back to the pills. 'Looking good' is not worth having heart problems! You can do this on your own! I lost 30 pounds down from 167 so you can do it too!!!
  • Singapore is such a beautiful place and I really enjoyed my visit there a couple of years ago. Losing and keeping weight off is a lifelong process and really can't do it with pills. Most pills are not good for you! Just cut back on what you are eating, exercise and give yourself time. Be sure to drink plenty of water and include fresh fruits and vegetables in your daily diet, and cut by on animal fats.
