Hi all!
I just joined a few days ago, and I am encouraged by many of your amazing results! Makes me feel like I can actually do this, if I work at it. Which is the exact opposite of what the negative little voice in my head usually says to me.
I was always a little pudgy in grade school and junior high. In high school, I finally gained some height (but only a little-5'4") which, along with multiple extracurriculars, seemed to help me look leaner. At my thinnest, I weighed 140 (which is still borderline high by that blasted BMI scale). Then came college, which ended up being a "Freshman 40" for me. Graduate school and post-grad training didn't help. And it seems that my stress level has increased exponentially as well with exercise and sleep decreasing exponentially during the same amount of time. I'm trying to stay positive - a true feat for me.
My husband, John, and I are now trying to lose some weight after a few years of regularly eating Dairy Queen blizzards and Applebee's. His family has started a year-long "Biggest Loser Couples Challenge" and the winning couple will receive a $400 jackpot to take a weekend trip (or something fun like that). We're rather competitive, so it'll be exciting to see how it all turns out. Wish us luck!
