Default I'm a grandma, I'm a caregiver, and I need to lose 60 pounds!

Sorry for that awful title. I've never been good at coming up with titles to anything. I have several books I've never written because I couldn't figure out what to say on the cover.

I joined tonight, and I'm feeling sort of lost at what to do, what to write, or how much to write. I'm new to this forum. If anyone posts anything to me, I hope I can find it again when I sign on tomorrow!

I'm in the age 50+ group, if there is such a group. Since December I've had a major change in my life, in that I've become a caregiver to a parent. They have both moved in with me, but one is fairly self-sufficient and the other requires a lot of time and TLC, of which I do cheerfully (most of the time) and willingly. I have a lot of support from my husband in this. Otherwise, I don't know how I could manage.

Weight has been an issue all my life. When I was young, my reasons for wanting to lose the weight were because I wanted to look good and be able to buy and wear cute clothes. It was a vanity thing. I wanted to look like one of the "beautiful" people. Now I'm a grandma. I will never look like one of the beautiful people no matter how much weight I lose. But it's beyond looks at this point. My health is at stake. I need to get at a healthier weight so I can effectively and energetically care for my elderly mom. And I want to be around to watch my grandkids grow up.

So there you have it. - Chirps

OMG, most of us have been in your shoes. My mom had a stoke and quickly passed away leaving me with my father and my 88 year old aunt to take care of. For six years I had an aunt in a nursing home and a father who was much like a child in his needs. These life changes are some of the reasons I forgot about myself and my weight went up. Eating was one way I coped with the stresses in my life.

During these difficult times, it is important to take care of yourself and keep your weight under control. Good Luck!
