Default Newbie from Natchitoches, Louisiana!!

Hey ladies (and gents!),

For you wondering how the heck you pronounce Natchitoches, it is Nack-a-tish.

My name is Bliss, and I am 21 years old. College has definately had a hand in my weight gain, with sleepless nights from studying and a hectic lifestyle. Having a few health scares over the past few months (and currently recovering from a minor surgery) I am glad that I found this wonderful resource to help me in my journey!

I am newly engaged, and am getting married in September, so that is definately a motivational tool in itself. My fiance is also going to be on the weight-loss track along with me, but sometimes his "tough love" form of motivation isn't the kick in the butt that I need to get back on track.

I look forward to getting to know you all, and hope that I can make great friends and find a buddy to "keep me in shape"!

You'll see numerous more posts from me!

Bliss

Oh! And I am looking into possibly joining Weight Watchers (since Jenny Craig provides your meals) because I like to cook, any opinions on which would be a better fit?

Hi Bliss!

Welcome to 3FC! You'll find lots of great advice and support here. I'm on WW and I LOVE to cook, too I have really been enjoying it, because not only are there literally thousands of existing WW recipes, you can also get creative and invent your own. For someone who likes to cook, I think WW would be a great fit- i'm not a huge fan of the pre-packaged food, and cooking at home is really the best way to control what you eat. I've been doing it for almost 2 months now, and I'm loving it. It works well with my crazy life (I'm also a student..Actually, I recently had surgery, too...it seems we have a lot in common!). I would recommend checking out a WW meeting and seeing if you like it. I like the accountability that comes from weighing in each week. It helps to have a buddy, too- maybe your fiance would be willing to go with you?

Good luck!

My friend had those prepackaged meals and I didn't like the taste (or looks) of them! LOL! I felt like I was eating space food from foil pouches and plastic wrapped dishes!

I joined WW with a friend it is working so far and a lotta fun. We have a fun group (about 25).

I don't cook well but I have gotten a LOT of quick and easy recipes from WW that I make all the time.

Between WW and 3FC I have all the support I need.

Good luck!

Oh yeah I lived in Louisiana (NOLA) for 6 years and I loved it but that summer heat got to me after a while so I move further North to escape the summer heat and now I get to freeze in the winter!

Hey there Bliss! I love to cook too. I have been on WW- doing it online- for 3 weeks now. My 3rd WI is this Saturday. I am having no problems staying within my points and have lost 8.4 lbs so far! I have not tried the other weight loss program you mentioned but I would definately reccommend WW. Good luck to you no matter whcih way you go!
