Hi after lurking for a while I have finally decided to join. I have about 55lbs that I would love to lose, so this is the first step right!

wife2jason! I know you can lose those 55 pounds with no problem. are you following a particular plan (ie calorie counting, weight watchers, south beach etc)?

I lost some weight a while ago in south beach, but I have an allergy to aspartame and splinda, so I stopped. I'm kind of doing a mixture of calorie counting and low carb... not not carb, but good healthy ones. And of course excercise. I try to ride my stationary bike 3 times a week.

That's awesome. There is nothing wrong with carbs as long as they are the slow-burning kind. Simple carbs just don't fill you up, which isn't cool since they are pretty calorically dense yet lacking in nutrition.

Stationary bikes are ok, but real bikes are more fun... in my opinion, anyway One of the best ways to spend a day, I think, is to go on a long bike ride. do you ever go biking?

I do, but at a pretty slow pace, I have to make sure my little one can keep up. And here in Idaho goat heads (puncture vine) is torture on bike tires. Mostly during the summer we go to the trails and my kids ride and I have to walk very fast to keep up. But during the winter it's all inside. To cold!

My goal is to RUN a 5K in September. I've valked it many times, but I really want to run it. And I want to run it in under 45 minutes. This past year I walked it in exactly 60 minutes. That goal isn't to unrealistic, I don't think.

But any wyas, to answer your question, I don't get on my real bike to often. But I'm ok with the stationary.
