hey everybody! my name is Cynthia, you can refer to me as whatever version on my name you please. i am new, just joined up about 5 minutes ago. let me give you a little back round on me.
i am 22 years old, i have struggled with my weight most of my life, and got teased like i am sure many of you have though out your life. My mother is over weight, and a darn good cook, i got my love of eating from her, we are very alike, and i was always well under her weight, but i came to a point in my life where i was believe it or not OK WITH BEING OVER WEIGHT! my mom started weight watchers and now weighs almost 100 pounds less then me and i guess she is my inspiration along with the fact my boyfriend has recently purposed to me. so my mission begins, i am getting married 5/1/10. and i want to weigh about 140-150 for my wedding. i have about 70 weeks, and seeing as how i weigh in at 282, if i can lose like 2-3 pounds a week i can achieve this goal. my problem is i am a huge planner, not an action taker, so i have come here to hopefully be inspired, encouraged, and NAGGED to make sure i am doing my best every week.
i look forward to hearing from anyone and everyone who has some words of wisdom or a kick in the butt to hand out on occasion.
Good luck! You can definitely do it! Just take it day by day. Make small goals! I want to lose 8 pounds by new years! 25 over all, but I'm going to try to focus onthe small things first!
It's not easy, but if you put your mind to it you can do it!! I am struggling now, but keep on keepin on. One thing I have noticed is how much exercise makes a difference. I have done just about every diet under the sun, but have never had results like this. I starting working out and eating lighter in August and I have lost 23 pounds. The pounds seem to be slower than the body change, the exciting thing is seeing my clothes baggier and the waistlines looser! I started at 251 and im at 237 now. I am hoping to eventually get down to 150, slow and steady wins the race, right? Take care hun, and best of luck to you!! WE CAN DO IT!!! lol
I feel like our stories are very similar. Feel free to PM me anytime and know that I am here to support you.. as well as everyone else here! this place has definitly changed my life!
I started my weightloss journey just after my bf proposed to me. WE are married on paper but havn't had the ceremony yet. When he get's back from iraq, there will be a wedding for us
I have lost 70 pounds so far and beleive me.. that is something I never thought was possible. My mom was always more than me too and she is a great cook. I sort of was in an illusion that I wasn't over weight.. thenone day it just hit me.
Do you have any plan as to how you are going to lose? I can sugest some books to you and also fill you in on any tricks of the trade that have been working for me.
Know that you can do it!! and welcome! Everyone here is AMAZING! check out the chicks up for a challenge thread! it's my personal fave place hehe
i am planning on starting the p90 program with the hubby to be on Monday, the 1st of December, and i am going to be walking every day until there is mounds of snow on the ground, and eating healthy like i have been for a while. i figured i would change my diet first and get used to it until i throw in some work out and make me want to quit on the spot. i'd love some tips on any thing you can give me. congratulations on your 70 pound loss, does your husband have any idea, or are you surprising him? how did you do it? and how long have you been going with your "mission"?

I started on Feb. 6 2008!
i have had a couple 10 pound relapses now and again.. but as long as you keep truckin.. you will do fine!
My hubby knows what i'm doing. i have lost about 30 or so pounds since he left. I send him progress pictures every ten pounds or so I can't keep a secret.. even though it's a great idea! lol
I started with reading LOTS of books to educate myself so I knew why i was eating certain things and stuff like that. Once you start eating good you will feel like you want exercise to pump it up. Don'toverwhelm yourself with trying to do everything at once. babysteps are key!
rick gallops' G I diet is amazing and easy to follow to get you basics on how to eat! there's literally lists of foods that are GREENLIGHT, YELLOW light and RED light. PRetty easy to follow! and yummy recipes!!
Biggest loser cardio max dvds are good and so are walk about the pounds!

My goal is 80 (or so) pounds before my wedding date next fall...
When I loose motivation I look up the wedding dress that I want, which is not available in my size, or think about life as the future Mrs S and my motivation is restored. It helps that my fiance has started coming to the gym with me!
Sounds like you have set a reasonable and attainable goal for yourself. Stick with it! I find 3FC is an invaluable resource.
I have been on and off these boards for quite a while. I mostly lurk though :-) I got engaged in October and our wedding date is September 2009. I am really trying to do it this time. I get into a good routine and start doing really well exercising and eating well until something comes up and I get out of the routine. I don't want to do this just for my wedding day. I need to get into a routine for the rest of my life. We want kids and I want to have a healthy pregnancy. I need to be accountable to someone I think so I am hoping to post and respond to posts this time :-)
Start your process right by telling yourself EVERY DAY that you are worth the time and energy it will take to accomplish your goal!! Especially as women, we are so busy taking care of everyone else in our lives that we forget to take care of ourselves until it's too late. I am a daughter, sister, friend, and teacher who now recognizes my need to take care of myself first SO THAT I can take care of others! I am no good to anyone if I am not good to myself-- it took me 29 years to learn this, but now that I have, I will never put myself and my health on the back burner again!!
I started at 273 pounds a little more than a year ago, and I weighed in at 212.8 this morning. That's 60 pounds lost-- I would have NEVER imagined that to be possible. I went from a 24/26 to a 16. Incredible! The key is planning (again, taking the time for yourself to plan) and consistency. Make the plan and carry it through. I plan every meal, snack, and beverage for my week on Sundays-- and then I use the plan as a checklist during the week to hold myself accountable. There are definitely times when I go off plan (birthday, etc.), but I am always making conscious choices! For so long I felt like a victim of the fat suit I was wearing-- not the case! I choose what I put into my body-- and you will be amazed at how your eating habits and wants change when you start taking care of yourself!
Also, if something is not working for you, change it up. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing while expecting different results-- just because something worked for others on here doesn't mean it will be the best for you. You have to shake up the snowglobe if you want to see results!
You ARE worth it, Cynthia! I can't wait to see what amazing things you're going to do for yourself! I have to run to class, but I wanted to wish you good luck! Use the boards when you're feeling great and struggling-- I just started about a month ago here, but I have already found the people to be amazing!

Hello my name is Lisa and I am new I have been extremely obese for my whole life. I have pictures of me at age seven skinny and by age eight I had a tummy that just kept growing. I have tried so hard and nothing seems to work! I am just trying and have lost weight but ask me what I did and I can't tell you. I am married and have two children and try to feed them as best I can my daughter is seven and I am seeing signs of extra weight on her and she is eating perfectly normal so I am scared for her because I think genetics are winning. My son is perfectly skinny and actually underweight. I am trying but I am starting to consider surgery. I came across the full bar and am wondering if anyone on this site can tell me their stories about them if they have used them I would really appreciate it. Any advice or anything would be great I just need to get a little help.

Have you seen a nutritionist or dietician or doctor about your weight issues? They can help, and suggest whether surgery is the right choice for you. Good luck!
thank you everyone for your kind words especially IrishRose25, i really look forward to my time here with all of you for guidance, inspiration, words of wisdom, and a few good friends
