Newbie with long and short term goals

  • Hi,

I am so delighted to find this forum. There seems to be a wealth of information and encouragement, both of which I need.

About me? I'm a very healthy senior (61) who lives and works (in home studio) with my sister who has the same weight challenges. I'm almost 5'10", walk just about every morning for an hour (terrific "walking buddy" and three terriers help) and I'm trying to get back into my regular 6:30 AM exercise routine. Where I really need help is with meal planning and preparation as well as staying on task! Like most folks, we are busy all day, everyday and it doesn't help to have to pass the kitchen everytime you take a potty break. I've been challenged with my weight all my life, as has my sister.

I'm really looking forward to the support that this group seems to be so willing to give.
  • Welcome to the forum, Patty!

Lucky you being so tall, girl! I am so envious.
It sounds like you're on top of things with your exercise... good for you!
Meal planning and prep is my big failing, too. Such a small, simple thing to do, yet I have such a reluctance to do it. (okay, I'm lazy)

Please keep posting, and let us know if we can give you any direction. We're glad to have you join us!
  • PATTY . . . so glad you found us . . . . . . Sounds like you are off to a great start on the journey to better health and fitness. Wowee, it doesn't get easier as we get older, does it. You are almost still a baby from my 65 year old point of view, of course.

We have a pretty active support Forum over here . . . http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=217 . . . for those of us who have reached "a certain age". Hope you'll come and join us. It can really help to discuss stuff with others who understand the trials and tribulations of losing weight after age 50.
