Hey everyone! I found this site by googling "lap band pre op diet". LOL. actually it was 330 in the morning, I was at work, and I was so tired of chicken broth and jello that I thought I was going to scream! But, I found this website and read one thread. Yep one thread. And I knew that I was going to join this website when I got home.

I have been heavy since I was a teenager. I was home alone alot and ate anything I wanted. When I was depressed I ate, when I was happy I ate. I used to manage restaurants ... so I love to eat. I never really cared about my weight because I was happy. Then I became a nurse. And I saw what obesity does to people so I decided to lose weight. I thought it would be easy .. boy I was wrong. Then I started to feel really horrible. I felt like I could sleep 24 hours straight. I started to get cranky and would snap at everyone. This wasn't me. So I went to the doctor. Who diagnosed me with ... OBESITY. Yep that's right. The field that I love, that I work in said I was fat and that was my problem. Well, I went to see another doctor who said that it might be sleep apnea so he set me up for a sleep study. I "failed". My pulmonologist and I decided on weight loss and smoking cessation as a treatment. My pulmonologist suggested the lap band.
I quit smoking May 25th of 2008. cold turkey. I miss smoking every single day. But it is for the good. My first appt with my bariatric surgeon was June 4th. I weighed in at 266. My surgery date was set for October 24th. (I am a self pay due to my insurance not covering any weight loss procedures so I was able to schedule quickly).
Since then I have been losing weight and exercising. Then I went on my cruise and oops gained some back.
So now I am on my liquid diet preop. And when I didn't think I could make it I found this website.
