Default A Disaster of a Dieter from the UK!

Hello everyone! I'm Beth and I live in the UK (Midlands) I lost a great deal of weight on the Cambridge but had to stop because I could no longer afford it. Needless to say, within a year I had regained the lot. Then I tried Atkins, but found it a bit time consuming and it also gave me dreadful indigestion. I wanted something that I could do around my family and someone suggested Low Fat. I got all the info last week, and got my head in the right place and I've started today.

I'm looking on it as a life style change rather than a diet. I can have the same as my family just needs a bit of tweaking that's all and they can also eat the same as me. I'm dry frying/roasting instead of using cooking oil and looking hard at the fat content of food.

I've not done very well at keeping the weight off in the past so keep your fingers crossed for me, and I hope you will let me join in this lovely friendly forum.

Hello! Sounds like you have a good plan under your belt, but be careful about 'low fat' labelled things they're often high in other things you might not want in your food or not nutritionally healthy (which is important if you have kids) Another good thing to watch out for is the low calorie cooking spray instead of oils.

Welcome to the board though, You will find great advice and support here

Welcome to the forum, Beth!

I think it's great that you're going for a lifestyle change. Strict diets work well for some people, but for most of us, tweaking our eating patterns; as you're doing, is a great way to establish new habits that'll last.

Please let us know how we can help you in any way. We're all in this together.

to 3fc like yourself I have now adapted a life style rather than a "diet" which all the weight returns after returning back to eating again.

I have adapted and tweaked our favourite food and maybe made them more healthier and less fat by having turkey or chicken. This way I am not cooking 2 sets of meals per day everyone can eat the same as me as a result we are all eating a much more healthier diet.

Thanks ever so much for the lovely welcome. I shall try (when I've got a bit of weight loss to show for myself) to do a ticker, but I'm not so much going for a quick loss as a steady one, that is incidental to my new life style.

I'd better tell you a bit about myself, I'm very boring. Retired from nursing, married 40 years, still with original husband, grown up family, with one aged 30 still at home. Usual boring hobbies... tapestry and crochet and walking our 3 dogs.

I'm quite surprised today how I've not missed butter on bread, and how good food tastes.

Good Luck everyone There is absolutely no need for me to put this little chappie in, but I love him!
