I think I'm ready!

  • Hey everyone! I'm new here. I'm really looking for support in my weight loss journey.

I'm 21 years old, and recently graduated college. I'm job hunting, and it's not going too well. lol.

I've been overweight my entire life, and after several failed attempts... I'm ready to give it another go. I actually stumbled across this website when I was going through a hard time fighting a craving for all the bad things in the kitchen. I've done really well all day, but nightly eating is my biggest problem. I really hope that this forum can give me the support that I need to lose this weight.

It's hard for me to get out and exercise because I do have anxiety problems... which I feel is a contributing factor to my anxiety. It's all a vicious cycle.

I'm working on portion control, eating at scheduled times, and not eating after 8:00pm.

    Thanks ahead for everything

  • Thanks, ladies!

I've been looking around the 20-something's forum. Looks like fun! Hopefully I'll get started in there soon.

It's night time, and this is the hardest time of day for me. I gotta keep telling myself that I can get through this!

  • I'm glad you've been looking around. This really is a supportive board. We want everyone to succeed!

Night time is a very difficult time. I know that for myself sitting in front of the computer with a bunch of snacks was practically a ritual.

I hope that putting a "no food after 8" rule into effect helps you out.
  • Hi! Welcome. I know what you mean about the nighttime munchies. I have always had a similar problem. Because of that, as a Calorie Counter, I definitely weight my calories for the day so that I do not have to COMPLETELY go against my nature. Basically, I make sure there is room for between 70-100 calories for a nighttime snack. I like to air pop popcorn -- you can have more than 3 cups of the stuff with some salt for around 100 calories. That is a lot of bang, or roughage, for your C-note. It gives me something to quell the munchies that will not throw my completely off my plan.

This is a great site -- very supportive and informative. Good luck on that job hunt!
  • I've already faltered on my late night munchies thing...

I guess all I can do is put it behind me and look towards tomorrow.
  • If it makes you feel any better i faltered on my munchies late night!
I used to beat myself up over it but todays a new day, so stay positive
I use to have the anxiety years ago when i first put on all the weight, just take it day by day and set small challenges for yourself. You can do it. If you feel like you need an extra ooph then we're here for ya
    Good luck
  • Welcome, so glad to have you here!

You can do this! Give it a few nights to fully catch on. If you still have trouble after that, maybe one planned snack a night will help curb the cravings.

We all have slip-ups. We put it behind us
