Default Greetings from Ottawa!

Hello everyone!

I thought I would take the time to introduce myself...I just joined yesterday!

I just got married last year hence the "name."

I've struggled with my weight most of my life. After the wedding I hit my highest weight of 218 and went "OMG."

I was referred to a dietician and doctor who leads a weight loss management clinic. It worked...I've lost almost 20lbs since late December 2007. I keep fluctuating which drives me nuts...one day, I'll be 202 when I weigh myself in the morning and when I have to go see the doctor a few days later I'm 206 on her scale. I do have to keep in mind that I weigh myself first thing in the morning and then my appointments are late afternoon 3pm -4 pmish. However, it has been a bit discouraging.

We moved into our first home a few months ago and I haven't been to the gym since end of May/early June. I've decided that I'll be starting my 3 day a week gym routine next week! I have to at least get back to doing that.

Lately, I find myself wanting to snack all the time...I'm totally craving sugary stuff and up until now...I haven't really craved sugar at all...I crave salt. I don't know what's going on but I've decided that come next Tuesday, September 5th...I'm on the road to losing another 20lbs by the end of December!

I'm actually getting myself into eating just 23 almonds throughout the day in order to curve my sugar cravings...

If anyone else has any advice...I'm open to suggestions.
The dietician basically has me learning how to eat better and smaller portions...I would love to hear your experiences!

If you made it this far...thanks for reading!

I look forward to chatting with all of you! Cheers! =)

wow, lots of Ottawa people here from what i can see. I also gained within the first year of my marriage (which was last summer) and am trying to take that off! Good luck to you. Do you go to a large gym with classes or do you prefer to do independent activities?

Hello &

Fabulous work that you're doing with the advice from the dietician! They truly help people when we don't know where to start.

I know that for me, I have to keep track of how much I'm eating during the day. This meant counting points on WW. I know many others use calorie counting. Just something to limit ourselves to how much overall.

Starting to exercise again is such a great move. Keep at it. It helps our weight loss efforts as well as improving our health.

You can do this! Best of success!

Welcome, Wifey! So glad you are here! Losing 20 lbs is a huge success! And I firmly believe that dr's scales are evil! I think they set them at least 5 lbs higher just so you'll be too depressed to make any demands of the dr.

Smile Welcome, I love almonds.

I'm sure you will love it here as much as I already do. I found some Almonds yesterday at the grocer that are so delicious, not sure if they will be good for you or not. They are the Blue Diamond brand oven roasted, vanilla bean flavored. They have just enough sweetness to curb my craving for sweet but are still awesome for you. Just as long as you can limit yourself to one serving of 28nuts . I also noticed they had them in a cinnamon flavor as well. Anyway, best of sucess to you. I'm sure I'll see ya around.
