Default "But you're big boned"

Hi- I'm Suzanne. I, like a lot of people, have struggled with their weight their entire life. I've been told I'm big boned and that I was a big girl and that me being bigger and taller (I'm 5'10) than everyone is okay. That I carry my weight well.

Well, I'm determined to hit my goal weight of 175. I'm 28, single and want to reach my goal. I've tried everything- diet pills, "no white stuff" diets, etc. I've done it all. At my biggest I weighed 300 pounds and I'm currently at 230. I was down to 215 but have packed on the pounds through a job change and relocating back to Arkansas from Minnesota. Just here for inspiration, share what I know and learn from others.

Welcome, and congrats on losing so much weight already! I'm 6'0" and I'm sick and tired of being told "you carry the weight well". I feel your pain!!

Welcome!

I'm also big boned, and I also carry my weight "well" (as in, nobody can ever correctly guess my weight; most people guess 20-30 pounds low). Neither of those means that I'm at a healthy weight!!

Congrats on what you have lost so far - you can definitely make it to your goal!!

Congratz on what you have lost. My grandma use to say I was big boned. I didn't believe that, plus I'm pretty short.

Congrats on losing 70+ lb already, you should be proud of yourself for getting this far, and I'm sure your determination will carry you through to your goal weight (with a little help from our old buddies Diet and Exercise, obviously).

If you're not happy with your weight, then you need to tune out the people who try to make excuses for it, and just do what you think you need to do. I've had people tell me that I'll never be thin "because of my genes" or because I have a "heavy build", but a lot of the people who made those comments are also overweight, so I have my doubts about their motives.
Good luck with everything; hope to see you around the forums.
