Default New and Frustrated!

New chick here...hello all!

I've been losing weight for the past few years - but for the past several months (6+), nothing. I am so frustrated and discouraged, but I know I am not alone so I found my way here...

I go to the gym 3-4x week, I do 45 minutes cardio and 30 minutes with the weights each time. I've tried adjusting my cardio for distance and calorie (for a higher heart rate) and time and endurance (for a lower heart rate). I maintain a low-carb diet (10-20 carbs/day), which is probably the only thing preventing me from gaining weight. I've tried vitamens and suppliments. I've even had my thyroid checked.

No matter what I do, I can not lose any more weight. I'm down from 190lbs, but holding at 165lbs which is too much for my 5'3" frame. I'm hoping to find support, suggestions and new friends!

You're doing an *awesome* job!!! You've lost 25 lbs over the past few years -- very few people manage to keep off even a small amount of weight for a year or longer. I'm sure that with your focus on exercise your fitness level has improved even more than your weight loss would indicate.

That said, if you are looking to lose more weight, I think you might need to take a closer look at what you are eating rather than your exercise routine. Low carb alone works for some people, but you might try totaling your caloric intake and see if you would be able to reduce it. Maybe substituting more salads and veggies for some of your calorie dense choices can keep you low carb but get the scale moving in the right direction.

Good luck!
