newbie too
HI -- I just joined today (7-19-08). Any help would be appreciated!! I am 52 years old, married, work at home. My goal is to lose 50 pounds. I've been down this road before, having lost and gained, etc. many times. Lately though I just can't get motivated to try. Working at home makes it easy to snack and easy not to exercise. I need a kick-start!!!

good to meet ya'll too
HI -- I just got back on the computer. I do medical transcription at home, so once I am done typing, I cant wait to get away from the screen!! I'm glad to get some support. I know what I need to do to lose weight (I've done it plenty of times before), I just have to get motivated again. Hopefully, this will help me. I need to start doing some kind of exercise -- it's no excuse, but it is HOT here right now. I only go outside when necessary! But I am determined to start walking early in the a.m. -- we have 11 acres, so if I walk the perimeter I can at least get a good start on my exercise. At any rate, it sure is good to know there are more of us out there!!!!

Hi and welcome, Ann J! I'm 52 too, and I can testify that it is harder to take it off now than it was twenty years ago! (And I thought I was so "fat" in college --- oh, to be that fat now!)
It's hot here in NC, too; I walk my dog first thing in the morning and again late in the evening. You might want to start lifting weights, too; you can do it indoors, it builds muscle (so raises your metabolism), and is good for your balance, too. I got turned on to weights by a book called _Strong Women Stay Young._ take care! anita |
