Wink NEW-a little scared, but excited

Hello, my name is Gayle. I am starting my life over today. I really don't know another way to look at my situation. I am probably weighing at least 400 pounds. I really don't know because the scales at the doctors office don't go that far. I went to the doctor yesterday to discuss weight loss options and was referred to get gastric bypass surgery. That really scares me. I had a real good heart to heart talk with myself last night and have come to a conclusion. I'm fat and it's time for a change. I don't know how I am going to do this and I don't want to starve myself to death, so any support that anyone has to offer is certainly accepted. If you have a diet plan that has worked, I am interested in hearing about it. And if you want to talk for support, I am here and need support too!

Hi Gayle. I also am starting....or I should say starting over. It is time for me to make the necessary changes to get healthy and fit. I am starting Weight Watchers tomorrow. I am lucky as a friend will be doing it with me.

I have also been considering the bariatric surgery, but am going to give WW my best effort. I have seen it work. It even worked in the past for me.....but I stopped eating healthy and the weight crept on and on.

This is the place to come for support. Wonderful people with heartwarming hopeful stories. Folks shared their successes and challenges. Many good hints and kind honesty. There are many different plans discussed and used successfully. I wish us both well in finding what works for us.

Good luck!!

Hi Gayle. I agree with Bunti about Weight Watchers. It's worked for me in the past, and it's what I'm doing now. I'm not going to meetings this time - I'm just using my old materials and doing it on my own, but coming here is making up for the lack of input from others at meetings.
I absolutely think it makes a huge difference just having others to talk to and share ideas with. It keeps you motivated when you are not feeling alone!

Good luck, whatever path you choose, and keep coming back here!

Hi GAYLE and . . . so glad you found us.

You will find more information about Weight Loss Surgery in the forum of that same name and there's information on just about every popular and healthy weight loss plan out there in the Diet Central area.

You can do it, chickie . . .

Hello Ladies, Just a quick hello and welcome. I think you will find Meowee is a walking enclycopedia of knowledge when it comes to dieting. She did an article about a month back that broke things down nicely. My name is Peggy and I am from Alabama. I want to lose about 50 pounds in hopes my diabetes will improve. Dr told me last visit I have Diabetic Neuropathy and I do not want to lose my legs in the future. Walking hurts but I do it anyway and hope the pain from it will pass soon. Things have chnaged a bit on here but the recipe portion was a big help to me in getting started. I hope you find what you need here in the way of support, I have found it very helpful and even fun at times!

Hi Gayle... I just wanted to say hi and encourage you -- you CAN DO THIS! Come back, find a subforum that works with your plan and read up. 3fc has been a huge support to me... and WW works for many people.

I was in your shoes last summer. I weighted 325... knew I couldnt keep going the way I was.. so I started with small changes. like short walks... and eating less junk. weight watchers could be the right step for you -- surgery isnt right for everyone. we're here for you
