I'm ready to lose weight!

  • Hello everyone, I've been yo-yo dieting for years now despite being only 18. At 5'2, I currently weigh around 132lbs and my target weight is 99lbs. I hope this forum would be a great support for me. Good luck to everyone else on their weight loss journey!
  • Hi there Pushten!

Before I say anything else, I do hope you've talked to your physician about your goal weight. It seems (from the weight & height charts that I've looked at) just a little low for your height. That coupled with the fact that you're 18 and therefore probably still growing. I say that with concern for your wellbeing. If you've spoken with your doctor and he/she has OK'd it, then all the best of success to you and I hope we can help support you on your way.

You may want to check out the 20-something's (doesn't matter that you aren't quite 20-something, yet ) or the Featherweights area.

    Good luck!
  • I'd like to say as well . . . but I also have to agree with what Faerie said . . . even using the most narrow guidelines, I think 99 pounds at 5'2" seems a little low. . . but only you and your doctor can decide for sure.
  • Welcome to 3FC!

Not to be discouraging, but ditto what Faerie said. 99 does sound a little low. Do you exercise? That can make a huge difference in your body shape. A good difference! When I was 18, I was running a mile a day, and weighed 128. I was very slim and looked fabulous.
Also, you may feel differently about your body as you lose some more weight. You may get down to 125 and think, "Hey, I look great, and I feel great!" Set yourself small goals to start.
    Good luck!
  • Thanks for the replies, guys!

Hmm yes 99lbs seems a little low but I told myself I should give myself a little allowance in case the weight creeps back. My first mini goal would be 119lbs. I'm gonna draw up a plan later and post it when I'm done.

Faerie I will check out the sub-forums you recommended, thanks!

ellis, I used to exercise every day the last time round when I was really serious about losing weight, after which I slackened. I would do at least 2.5 miles back then. Will start this Monday, maybe just a walk but I will want to cover at least 2.5 miles, same as last time.
