Question Help! I'm new!!!

Hi everyone!!
Thanks for sharing your story. I need help/advise on navigating the forum and also as much diet advise as you can throw at me!! I have never dieted before and I don't know where to start. My weight increases each year and it is time I take control. I have always been thin, but for a little over 6 years now I have gained approximately 90lbs. I have NO energy and I have become this lazy couch potato!!! Summer is around the corner and I would love to have more stamina to exercise outside in the heat and enjoy spending time with my family outdoors. Please help!!

I know what you mean. One minute you look in the mirror and you are like "Damn I look good!" Then one day you wake up and you look in the same mirror and say "Oh crap, is that me? I'm twice my size..." Yeah, that is exactly what happened to me. And oh, my goodness has it been hard. My advice is get into an exercise plan immediately. Then start to slowly change your eating habits. For instance instead of eathing those potatoe chips, eat an apple or something. Easier said then done. But you have support here. Welcome!

Hey Skinny!

Yes - take control! It's time.

For advice - head on over to the Weight Loss Support or Goals forums and read, read, read! Tons of stories, tons of advice, and tons to keep you going.

For people who don't know where to start, I always suggest babysteps. What can you do tomorrow that you didn't do today? Get 8 servings of produce? Drink 8 glasses of water? Take a 30 minute walk? Pick one or two, and do them for a week.

After that week, add another babystep. Then another. Before you know it, you have a healthy, weight-loss-friendly lifestyle that will carry you through weight loss and into maintenance.

Stick around, ask questions, read, and post. Can't wait to get to know you better.

Thanks so much for the responses!! I feel impowered by the support and when I look around at all of the success. I am starting with small changes and then plan to add each week or few days. Question....the only way I have found to find out if someone replies to my posts is when I go to my profile quick link and then click on all posts and look from there. Is there a faster way? Also, how do I subscribe to threads and add people that I want to keep on my page/list to be able to view their posts more quickly. Thank you!!!

I can only answer part of your post but someone else will kick in, I'm sure.

If you go to the top of a thread (in purple on the right) there's a button called thread tools. It'll drop down and let you pick subscribe. You can have responses emailed to you

I don't know if it's any better, but I don't bother with the subscribing part. I actually just flip through each Forum section and look for the threads I've posted in. It generally only takes a moment to find the threads, and then to read the replies.
