Default Nursing Mom Intro

Until my mid-20s, I hovered around 150 lbs, I think. I was a size 10, sometimes 12, without trying. Then, without trying, my weight started to creep up until I hit and settled at around 195. After my toddler was born, I lost, but didn't have a scale around! I suspect I got down to the 170s. My newborn is now six months old and I was back at 195. So, I have a goal to reach 145 by the end of the year.

I'm making a concerted effort to be more healthy. I'm trying to change how I eat for the long term, so maintenance won't be a problem. I've eaten more veggies this month than perhaps all of last year! I'm now a SAHM, so I can spend the time to cook healthy meals. I love to cook.

I started tracking my calories and weight daily at the first of the month. My Excel spreadsheet automatically calculates my daily goal weight by percentages. So, my plan has me losing fewer pounds per week at the end than now. I know to expect daily fluctuations, but I prefer to weigh daily. I'm eating normal food, just in proper portions and with more veggies, fruit and beans. We never deep-fry foods, sometimes sautee. We love international foods. I do have the occasional treat, but make sure my daily calories stay within range. My recent calories have averaged 1726 per day. I've lost 10 pounds already. If I keep up the percentage weight loss I've had in the last two weeks (so ignoring the first couple of weeks), my Excel spreadsheet tells me that I'll reach my goal weight in mid-July! Today, I'm experimenting with eating "all day". Instead of breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack and dinner, I'm trying to eat every three hours all day.

I'm excited about my success so far, but am worried about the long term.

Sounds like you are off to a good start. You may want to check out the calorie counter section as I am sure you will fit right in.

Welcome and keep up the great work

Welcome to 3FC!
You are so organized! I'm green with envy.
Don't worry about the future. Just focus on the here and now. That's all there is.
