Default Somebody please say something to make me go walking!

Hi,

I'm new, I really hate to exercise, that is the biggest obstacle
besides loving the salty stuff. I need some inspiration.

Thanks!

Go walking because you'll feel good after you do, go walking because it will be a step in the right direction to becoming healthier, go walking because it will get you that much closer to your goal weight, go walking because you'll be setting a good example for other chicks who need inspiration to do their exercise, etc.

Did I help at all?

go do it and it will be over,
then you will be so proud of you,
go walking because your life starts today, not tomorrow,
so...did you go?

Hi there...I too seem to put exercise on the back burner. Lately I have been telling myself to go walk the neighborhood and look at the houses and see which one I think has the prettiest paint or nicest yard....to smell the fresh air....I also just recently got this gismo that is like the peddles of an exercise bike that I can put in front of my couch and peddle while watching tv...not the hardest workout I've ever done but I just keep telling myself something is better than nothing..it all adds up....so did I help????

Just do it. It will lift your mood, help you feel great about yourself, and of course burn some calories and build some muscle.

I started with just walking as my exercise back in July. It was the best thing I did for myself.

Go! Walk! Come back and tell us about it
AND - bad weather is no excuse. WATP works great for those less than ideal weather days!

Go for a walk so you can live longer. Go for a walk to jump start your metabolism and therefore help you lose weight. If you walk for 3 weeks, every day, NO days off, it will become a habit and it will become part of your routine. After about a week, I bet you will look forward to it. I miss walking on my treadmill now when I have to work long hours and don't get to use it. Before, it just collected dust.
Becoming stronger by moving more will empower you. It helps you feel a stronger sense of control over your body.
Like the NIKE ad....JUST DO IT!

If you had started your walk when you first thought about it you would be back by now.

Thumbs up Thanks I did go!

Thanks to all of you who wrote. I did go right after I posted and did 35 minutes. I just walk up and down my little dead end street and into the parking lot for the park ( all well lit and it backs up to my neighbor's house so if I get into trouble I can scream.
I find it helpful to listen either to an ipod or a book on tape. Right now I am listening to [I]Twilight[I]by Stephenie Meyer and it is hard to stop. I had read it a couple of weeks ago, now I am listening. It makes the time go faster.
I have now gone walking twice this week, for a total of 65 minutes..Thanks again to all who wrote.

Good for you!
Yes, you just have to do it. And it you do it early enough, you'll feel good all day.

Great idea with the books on tape/CD!!! I love listening to short stories, because it's easier to brake away after 3 or 4. If I would listen to a book I would just go and go and go

I listen David Sedaris and Augusten Burroughs. But now it's spring and I just watch the grass, the birds and the dogs out for walks. Time flies

Keep telling us your progress! Have you thought about setting a walking goal (total minutes - let's say 300) by the end of Feb?

I am so glad I just read this. I'm about to leave work and go hang out with my boyfriend, I had told him earlier I was going to the gym to do 30mins on the TM before I head out to his house, but then I just told him "i think I'm going to skip the gym tonight and just go tomorrow night" then I got on here and saw that post and thought to myself "If I go tonight, then i can go tomorrow too and I will be so proud of myself and my body will be that much healthier and my muscles will be worked that much more and I will feel sooo much better! So now I just im'd him :"okay maybe I will go" and I'm going to close up shop and go to the gym!!!

Good for you Sun Flower! I was feeling a lot of muscle soreness when I first got out of bed today and TOM hit, I thought I would walk only for a few minutes on the treadmill. I got on and just kept walking. I ended up walking 45 minutes, the longest so far! It actually made me feel less sore afterwards.
