10 years and pounds creeping back

Hi to all... I lost 46#, hit my goal of 134 almost 10 years ago. Since then, my life has transformed entirely - I went from being a couch potato and junk-food (fast-food) addict to a woman who eats (relatively) well and works out regularly. In fact, I even went back to school and have a career in fitness and wellness now.

But when I went back to school (almost 6 years ago), I slowly started letting pounds creep up. I slipped into some old habits - snacking on jelly bellies during a boring class, having dessert pretty often, and worst of all - consistent EVENING snacking (my achilles heel). I don't under-eat during the day, but I eat emotionally at night even when I'm full... Now with a demanding full-time job, I have added some stress-related bad eating habits. I went from being 5# up to 10# up, to now, when I need to lose 15-20#.

I work out regularly (and work in a fitness facility so I LIVE in the gym!), but food is my worst area. I stumbled across this site researching something for work, and maybe this will FINALLY help support getting my efforts to get myself back on track.

So - that's me... 40 years old, mom of 2, married nearly 20 years to a supportive DH (who lost some weight along with me and is now into fitness too)... I know I can do better. I know I can quit making excuses, quit rationalizing, and stop telling my doc that I am skipping the weigh-in "just this time" because I don't want him to know that I gained weight back.

I'm a LOT better off than I was 10 years ago, but I can do better. So, here I am...

Bytsi (hoping to get a bit more itsy-bytsi)

Welcome Bytsi!! I did the same thing, I was down to 132 and started working again. They always celebrated birthday with cakes and people would bring food and baked goods for no reason. I gained 20 lbs that year. You and are the same weight now, so maybe we can track each other. I'm currently on WW.

Hi Bysti -
I'm new here too.
I used to be quite heavier than I am today.
But over the years the pounds have been packing back on as I have returned to some of my old eating habits & binging.

Thanks everyone for the welcome! I'll check out the featherweights, although I don't know that I've ever thought of myself with that term!

Renee, we are almost exactly in the same place - it's nice to know I'm not the only one who's slipped but isn't giving up hope.

I just ate at night again, but it was at least healthy instead of junk -- exercised at the gym, and then when I got home I had oatmeal with skim milk and split a protein shake with my DH... About 450 calories (when I should've planned on 2-300) but it's still not chocolate, and had nutritional value, right?

Gonna look around a bit more - this site has so much to check out... thanks again for the welcome!

Welcome Bytsi! I can relate to the evening snacking, that is my nemesis, too. But together, we will tame the ugly beast.

Welcome, Bytsi! :welcome3:
I've finally been able to break the late-night eating thing. If I can do it, anyone can.
