Default Wanting this time to be different!

Like a lot of people here I've gained and lost and gained and lost...many, many times, but this time I want it to be the LAST TIME!! I turned 40 in 2007 so it's only going to get harder with each coming year. Anyway, I started Jenny Craig in September, but I've grown tired of the food and the expense and I just don't feel motivated to do it any longer. I started at 209 my highest weight ever and I'm now at 195 (I'm a 5'8" SBF). I gained a little over Christmas. I'm really torn between focusing on loving my body as it is and focusing on loosing weight. Over 200lbs I really feel unhealthy and that was motivating. Under 200lbs I don't feel that unhealthy and I feel less motiviated. Last night I watched a new program called How to Look Good Naked and I've decided that maybe it doesn't need to be an either or proposition. I just know that I've allowed my weight to hold me back too many times. I've always been an active person, but I've let my self-consciousness about my weight hold me back in relationships. I haven't had a boyfriend in 7 years, and I've only had a handful of dates during that time (mainly due to my I can't believe you want to come near me attitude that I send out in waves). In my defense, I did adopt my dd during that time and I wanted to spend all my time with her. However, now she's 4 and while I still enjoy spending time with her, I need some more adult only time. I want to be able to go out without feeling so self-conscious. All of my female friends here are tiny and/or married so they don't relate as much. I'm sorry I'm rambling, although scattered is about how I currently feel about weight loss. I hope to get some support here. I also hope that I can offer some support. Going it alone isn't working so I'm hoping this will get me headed in the right direction.

Looking forward to getting to know all of you!

Hey Scout, and

It's ok to be scattered at first!

One of the best ways to meet people, in my opinion, is through activities...all the better if they are healthy, active activities! What about a walking group, or a spin class? Get out there and you'll meet LOTS of adults...and if you meet them in context of something active, you'll be more likely to STAY active together.

Other than that, just get into the groove of eating better and moving more, and maintain that "don't let my weight hold me back" attitude...it is so important!

Can't wait to hear more from you soon!
