College student ready to lose weight!

  • Hi,
I'm an 18 year old college student who has always been chubby!! I weighed 165, and after my first year, I now weigh 200(yikes!). My last school had a lot of fast food, so I transferred, and now am in my second year of college. I've been losing inches using resistance bands and getting in some cardio, but I think I need some motivation because I'm so stressed from work in school!
I've lost the weight before, but it seems like it's harder to lose it now. Maybe I don't get enough excersise, but I feel sleepy all the time. I just don't know what else to do.
  • Hello!

I too am a college student trying to lose some weight. I definitely understand the difficulty in losing weight with the stress of school/studying/exams... Sometimes it's just so hard to be conscious of what you're eating.

Welcome to 3FC. This is one of the best places for weight loss support I've ever found.

I count inches too, it's my prefered way to measure weight loss.

Good luck to you! And enjoy the boards.
  • Thank you so much!! ^_^
  • Welcome to the boards hun!

I was just about to introduce myself and I could have wrote something pretty darn identical to what you wrote.
Weight loss in university is tough and the motivation is hard to come by when you are so bogged down with studying and assignments. All I can say is hang in there.
I have made small healthier choices and have managed to lose almost 20 pounds in just a few months. Stick to it even when it gets rough because it does pay off. If you slip up or fall off the wagon get right back on!

I wish you a ton of luck, the support this board offers is unbelievable!

Get your blood sugar checked. You may have hyperglycemia. I have always been sleepy too and sure enough that is my problem.
  • Welcome! I gained the "freshman 40" and didn't lose it till AFTER college. I think I would have had much more fun if I'd lost it earlier. You can do it!! Counting calories helps, because you're keeping track of intake, even with all the late-night pizza runs, etc., that come with that time of life.
  • HI

I work in a college, so I'm familiar with how stressful it can be. Add the fact that not many foods served at a college are exactly healthy choices - hoo boy do I know lol.

NIce to meet you... are you writing your finals right now? Today is day 1 of finals where I am, I run a testing centre at the college I work for and boy is it hectic. I ended up buying a bag of gummi bears *oops*. There were apples there, but blech... they were bruised all to heck.

Yes I am actually, finals are next week. I have to sing for my jury next tuesday, and I have two papers to write!!
Don't feel bad about the gummi bears, I bought a butterfinger crunch bar.
    I checked the scale when I went home and I saw that I lost some pounds, but I probably gained it back. >.<;;;

    Thanks, I'll check that out.
I took a blood test last year, and they saw that I had CMV in my blood before. They thought I had either depression or mono since I had a lot of stuff going on last year at my school, that's why I transferred.
