Looking for serious diet buddies! :)

Hi everyone,

I am a 36 year old female from Ontario Canada and basically need to meet some support buddies to help me get back on track. In the past year or so I had lost 50 pounds, and you noticed I said "had" as in the past few months I have started to gain weight. I would love to meet some new friends that can help me get motivated again to start losing again.
I am a great listener and a loyal friend, I will stick by my diet buddy(s) for as long as they need me.
I hope to hear from you!!
Thanks for reading my post!
:)

Hi! I am a 34 year old married mother of 2 girls from Lexington, KY. Just recently joined up with this site. Would love any support/friends I can get!! I started at 178 (have lost 7 lbs) and my goal is 130. Gained most of my weight with my pregnancies and wasn't motivated enough until now to take it off. I have a family hx of diabetes and my girls have mentioned several times about Mommy being "fat" and I want to be a good role model for them.
Just remember, when you fall off the wagon, don't give up, just get started back again. Small changes over time will add up. :)

countrygirl7902 10-21-2007 02:21 PM

hi ladies! i would love to have real diet buddies. i have people around me who are supportive of my efforts but its not the same as having friends who are striving toward the same goal. i'm from ohio, 28yrs old, divorced and have 1 child. i work fulltime. and like so many other woman my weight has fluctuated a lot, but i never get anywhere close to my goal weight. i'm really determined this time but could use some encouragement (and will give it too!)

countrygirl7902 10-21-2007 02:31 PM

hey ameen876, i'm a nurse too (LPN)

countrygirl7902 10-21-2007 02:42 PM

so if we want to have a regular thread to keep in touch, can we just pick any forum and do it? or do we have to PM? i'm new to meassage boards in general. i don't really know all the etiquette.:?:

btw do any of you girls have yahoo messenger? if you do, my screenname is the same as on this site.

meowee 10-21-2007 04:27 PM

Hi there Chickies . . . :wel3fc: . . . you have definitely come to the right place for lots and lots of support buddies . . . there are thousands and thousands of us around here. It's a great big site so have a fun time looking around. When something catches your eye, just jump right in and start posting.

All existing groups are usually thriiled to have newbies join them. If you want to start your own special group as well, a good place would be in the SUPPORT GROUPS FORUM. Here's a link to that area of the community . . . http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=122

And for you, in particular, SHIMMERINGSUN . . . once you get over to Support Groups be sure to take a look at our CRAZY CANUKS CLUCK CLUB and say HI to some of the rest of us from Canada.

Oh wow MAMAMONA . . . I too have a 'family history' of Diabetes . . . I started it :(. I've been a Type II for better than 16 years now. We have our own little spot around here, too . . . come on over and take a look at DIETING WITH OBSTACLES . . . http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=14 . . . where you'll find special groups and lots of related information for those already diagnosed and those worrying that they could be headed in that direction.

And for you, AMEEN . . . have a look in DIET CENTRAL . . . and I think you'll find some others doing Medifast and I know I'm thinking about it. Here's a link to that area . . . http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=102

Look forward to seeing you all in the great days to come as you travel down the long and sometimes bumpy road to better health and fitness . . . :carrot:

meowee 10-21-2007 04:47 PM

Well . . . sounds like you are an 'almost Canuk' . . . BTW did you see the write-up that Suzanne and Jennifer put on the main 3FC page about their Medifast trail? In case you didn't, here's a link . . . http://www.3fatchicks.com/Diets/Diet..._We_tried_it!/

In case you are wondering, I do sometimes do other stuff around here besides posting links to various spots . . .

Ameen876 congrats on the 36 pound weight loss so far, that is great!

Count me in!

Hi - this is my first time posting so I hope I do it right. I would LOVE to have some serious diet buddies! I am desperate to lose weight. I am very down in the dumps right now b/c of my weight issues. I think about it all day.

I am 5'4" weight nearly 180. I want to get down to 135ish (my pre-pregnancy weight). I'd be happy to provide motivation and encouragement to anyone who needs it. I keep trying and failing. Maybe this time it will work. :)

mamamona 10-22-2007 10:09 PM

Hey everyone. I would love to have a group that we could all get to know each other a little more. This site is wonderful but it's hard to keep up with everyone. Ameen and CountryGirl, I am also a LPN!:)
I have already lost 7 lbs but have about 41 more to go. Even then at 5-1 I would probably be a little "plump" but I thought I would be realistic and set a goal I could possibly maintain. I stayed at that weight a long time prior to having my two youngun's.

hommer 10-23-2007 01:11 PM

Hello everyone - I sure would like to join this group, I have restarted the south beach diet and need to lose 85 pounds. I am from Ontario Canada also and an nurse (RPN). I need the support to help me with my weight issue. My 43 birthday was yesterday and NOW is the time to lose this weight. I have been on this site before and it is very helpful. Hope to hear from you all soon.

KellyGrace 10-23-2007 01:25 PM

countrygirl7902 10-23-2007 11:08 PM

wow i think we have a pretty good group here! somebody more creative than me think up a name for us and i'll start a regular thread for us in the support group forum(under miscellaneous i assume)

Dumplin 10-23-2007 11:41 PM

Hey I am looking for serious diet buddies also....and I think I am at the right place at the right time. I look forward to getting to know you all. Thanks!

countrygirl7902 10-24-2007 12:07 AM

ok ladies, here are a couple name suggestions for our group that were given to me - what do you all think?

Future Sexy Chicks or Hot Mamas To be

i'm leaning towards the first one. any more ideas anyone?

I Heart Diet Coke 10-24-2007 01:53 AM

Hey gus!

I was invited here by Countrygirl (sorry I don't know your real name) :^: I'm 23 years old, married, and I work from home as an internet marketer. I've been trying to lose weight pretty much forever. I lived in LA a few years ago and wanted to be an actress... the lowest I weighed out there was about 142 and I had to work stinkin' hard for that. Because I was working out so much (sometimes up to 6 or 7 hours a day!!) and eating so little I kind of developed a bad relationship with food. When I came back home to Texas I gained weight... FAST! and now I'm working to lose it. My number one reason is because sometime next year my husband and I would like to start trying to have a family and I know it's a lot harder when you're overweight. I also don't want to pass anything bad along to my future child like diabetes or anything (which runs in my family)

I'm hoping that if I can find some good dedicated buddies that I connect with it will help me be more motivated and more accountable.

okay well now that I've told you my life story lol I'm off to bed. I'll post back here tomorrow after I weigh myself.... NIGHT! :)

I Heart Diet Coke 10-24-2007 01:55 AM

oh and for the name I like the whole "Sexyback" thing someone say (I love me some JT lol)

or maybe something like "Future Heartbreakers Club" lol I don't know if that's dorky or not haha

MommytoGirls 10-24-2007 02:16 AM

I would love to get some new diet buddies! I want soo badly to lose weight. I am just so sick of how I look and feel. Anyway my name is Liz. I have two little girls. I am 24 and a SAHM. Before having kids my lowest adult weight was 115 lbs (I am 5' 5"). After having my youngest daughter (who is know 10 months old) my heighest weight was 240 lbs. I have been stuck at 190 lbs for months now. I need motivation to exercise and eat right. Sometimes when I am tired, bored etc I just eat junk and don't feel like exercising. I have tons of clothes that I can't wear because I can't fit into them!!! Anyway my ultimate weight goal is 120 if I can get there. I know I would be happy though even at 130-140.

Shimmeringsun 10-24-2007 10:05 AM

Hey Everyone, welcome to the new people, ok I like a couple of the group name suggestions, Sexyback or Future Sexy chicks, they are both great! :)
I hope everyone is doing good, I am back on healthy eating and exercising, so I hope to seem some sort of good results this week. :)
So should we have a vote on the new name or what does everyone think?
Stacey

countrygirl7902 10-24-2007 10:48 AM

seems like a few of us like Sexyback and Future Sexy Chicks. so we should go with something like that.

it just dawned on me that maybe we should just drop the 'future' part - because we are all beautiful women already! so i say we should go with Sexy Chicks as a way to remind us to love ourselves no matter where we are on our weight loss journey!

we could even have a little subtitle like - 'Beautiful women losing weight and forming friendships' or something cheesy like that.

if anybody hates it, speak up.

we could also have a 'Bio' thread to get to know each other even more as the group gets bigger.

I Heart Diet Coke 10-24-2007 12:48 PM

Countrygirl- that name sounds fine with me :)

Liz- Welcome! Hey I have sort of a funny question for you but if you don't mind me asking what Pants and dress size were you when you were 115... that's my ultimate goal weight but I've never actually been there (as an adult haha) and I'm 5'5'' as well so I was just wondering. You don't have to answer if you don't want to ;)

I lost another pound this morning!!! WOOT! happy happy!

the slim me 10-24-2007 01:06 PM

Hi, Room for one more? And I'm a nurse too. Stressfull joy, stress eating. That's one of the ways that got me to my present weight. I have about 20 something pounds to lose, but most importantally, i want to keep it off. I've lost the weight before and i don't want that to happen again. I'm 5 foot nothing and want to get down to 115-117. I'm dieting, but mostly i'm eating small portions of healthy food. I want to improve my over-all health too. I just want to look better and feel better.

Looking forward to joining a group of supportive people.

Oh yes, i'm originally from Ky. too.

OneLastTime 10-24-2007 01:08 PM

Hi Ladies!!
Shimmeringsun (Stacey) ~ Thank you for getting this started... Your original post caught my attention because I need support but I will be giving support as well and will stick with my buddy(ies) for as long as it takes.
I used to come to this site and things fell apart so I wasn't successful but I'm seriously ready to do it this time!! My "name" says it all... OneLastTime because this is the very last time I will do this simply because I am going ALL THE WAY this time!!
I am a happily married 38 year old with one daughter living in upstate/central new york. My weigh-in days are Mondays. I'm not on any specifit diet... I am eating smaller portions, making healthier food choices and exercising. I would love to do this together.... Hope it's not to late to join you ladies!!

OneLastTime 10-24-2007 01:10 PM

Oh ya.... and I'm a nurse too!! Psychiatric RN on an inpatient unit.

Shimmeringsun 10-24-2007 03:13 PM

I Heart Diet Coke congrats on the weight loss, way to go!
The slim me, welcome to the group!
OneLastTime welcome also, keep up that great attitude, that is a positive way to start :)

Stacey

countrygirl7902 10-24-2007 05:33 PM

ok ladies, i'll start a Sexy Chicks thread under Support Groups - Miscellaneous clubs (i think that's where we're supposed to be). i'll write a little summary so that any other newbies know what we're about. but if you don't like how i describe our group, just tell me and i'll edit it! i don't want to be pushy or act the boss!

and i'll look at other Bio threads and start a bio thread in the same forum.

yay! i'm excited! :grouphug:

When I was 115 lbs I was a size 3! It is depressing to think about lol. I miss being that small! People always used to say how tiny I was, no one ever says that anymore!

I Heart Diet Coke 10-24-2007 08:55 PM

Oh I would DIE to be a size 3... thanks that gives me a lot of motivation:D

I would absolutely love to have diet buddies. I am a 24 year old female from NJ. Right now I am in grad school, so I have no real time to prepare meals. When I first started on my weight loss journey I was 220. I lost 20 pounds and then gained 12 of them back. I restarted my journey in May of this year and have lost 26 pounds. It has been a bumpy road, but i am determined to reach my goal. I would love nothing more than to receive advice and suggestions from you guys. As well as give some support

I Heart Diet Coke 10-24-2007 09:50 PM

Everyone please feel free to join our club thread. it's under support and then under MISC. Clubs. We're the sexy chicks :D
