Hey folks!
I'm Sarah - an (almost) 22 year old soon-to-be college grad in Dallas. Some quick background...I've struggled with my weight all my life. To say I was a pudgy kid would be putting it nicely. My highest weight was something like 236 pounds when I was 15. Shortly after that, I went completely hardcore vegan, started working out a lot, and lost a lot of weight steadily over the next few years. My lowest weight was about 145 pounds in January of 2005. Shortly after that, though, I came down with a really bad case of mono. Unable to work out, I sat around the house and ate all semester long. By that summer, I was back up to 170, and it's just kept creeping up ever since. It stated moderately under control while I was still vegan, but when I started eating...well, everything...again, my weight shot up like crazy, topping out earlier this year around 224.
I definitely ended up using being out on my own as an excuse for gaining weight. Any college student can tell ya - it's so much easier to run through a drive through than try to eat healthy. And late night studying calls for IHOP runs...and chips...and ice cream...oh, and was that a package of Hot Pockets in the freezer?....
So anyway...I decided that with graduation fast approaching, thus making it necessary for me to get a job in the Real World, it was time to get a handle on things. I've been plugging along steadily the past few weeks doing what basically amounts to Weight Watchers without going to meetings (Meetings? Psh...we don't need no stinkin' meetings!) But then again....support is great...and having some level of accountability will be really cool.
I was down to 213 from 221, but a trip to my parents' this weekend fixed that! So I'm holding steady today around 217. I'd like to hit my first goal weight of 200 lbs by my birthday in November, and hopefully be down to 190 by Christmas. We shall see what we shall see, though....
