Default Intro

Hello everyone. I need some motivation, I hope this forum will help. I'm 22, I've been struggling with weight since puberty. I'm at my highest ever (190, 5'6") and I can't believe I've put myself in the position of needing to lose over 50 pounds. After I had my kid over three years ago I tried over and over again to lose some weight. Every time I'd lose about 10 pounds, get sick of thinking about food and calories all the time, quit worrying about it and gain it back. The last time I tried to diet was about a year and half ago. I decided I didn't want to think about it anymore, didn't want to care, and now I'm 15-20 pounds heavier than I was then. The thing is, it bothers me whether or not I consciously let it. It will affect my health and wellbeing at least eventually whether I care right now or not. What I've just been doing is ignoring it. I can't ignore it anymore because it will just get worse. I'm not sure yet exactly how I'm going to go about it, I absolutely hate dieting, but I think I need to get it over with and figure it out now while I'm still young.

I completely understand your frustration with sticking to a plan..I was like that too...I would lose 5-10 pounds and then just give up. You have to really commit to this and be positive about it. Don't set yourslf up to fail.

50 pounds, you can do it! I wish I would have stopped when it was only 20, or 40, or 50..

Welcome to 3FC! You can do this

so glad you found the site

There are so many people here full of encouragement, praise, a helping hand and ideas. You will never feel like you are taking the journey to a more healthy all alone ever again.

People here are doing all kinds of different things to lose weight. Everything from set plans like Jenny Craig to counting calories. Check out the posts you will get lots of ideas and then can decide what is best for you.

Myself, I use a salad plate instead of a lunch plate, a lunch plate instead of a dinner plate. Portions are a big thing for me. When the family is having one of my favorites for dinner I eat with them, watching my portion sizes. When they are having something that I don't care one way or another about, I am eating lean cuisines.

We all know diets don't work. What ever way you chose to lose weight understand that it is a life change. We all have learned we have to look at, think about and eat food differently than we have done in the past.

Please post where ever you like. Everyone is interested in how you are doing. If you have questions. Don't be afraid to ask. Someone will probably have an answer for you. Let us know how you are doing.
