Default New to the site.....again!

Hi,

I am new to the site.....sorta. I first joined in 2006 and post just a few times and then didn't have the courage or self fortitude to stick with my diet (I like to think of it as a life style change). As a result I have now gained a huge amount of weight and am in total disbelieve that I allowed myself to get this big. I don't know where to start but I figured that this would be a great resourse. Any help would be much appreciated.

Welcome Back!! So, what is different this time? What is your plan? I feel your frustration! I started a "new lifestyle" a year or so ago and lost 25lbs. I still had another 25 to go, and I sort of went back to my old lifestyle. Now here I am again, starting over because I gained almost 15lbs back. Thank god I gave away all my larger sized clothes, otherwise who knows what could have happened!

Now I am here trying again and I am happier for it. I've only just begun here at 3FC (signed on Thursday) and am getting so much motivation and inspiration from all the success stories these threads offer. Read through them and see what everyone is doing and gain inspiration from them!

And.... if you need a buddy.... i'd gladly offer myself as one. I know that having someone to hold me accountable usually helps. I have some great support here by my home, but cyberbuddies I think would be great too!!

Good Luck!!

Sounds great! A cyber buddy to keep me in check would be great. I don't have a plan but I do know that I need to find another outlet to deal with stress and disappointment. My first step is to stop drinking soda (diet included) and replace it with ice tea or water. My next step is to eat less and move more. I always feel so restricted when I diet and then eventually I just give up.

feeling restricted is a huge issue for me as well. When I lost weight the last time I did South Beach, which I was fairly successful with, but I felt like I was always having to either make two meals and alter mine. It got frustrating. And then to give up pototaoes and other "white flour" things.... too much. I know that I have a probablem with Carbs. That I did learn on SB, so now I just try and control how much if it I do eat and get my family to pay attention too. I like the Weight watchers plan because I can pretty much eat anything and it "all counts". I just have to know that if I plan to have white potatoes for dinner, I better not eat any extra carbs the rest of the day.

As for managing stress..... well, I can tell you that I have started giving myself time outs (my kids think it is hilarious!) I go to my room and read or do my nails, walk on the treadmill, or just close my eyes for 15 minutes or more if I can. My kids are 11, 9, and 6 so leaving them alone for a bit isn't to much of a big deal. I have been known to throw a temper tantrum or two from time to time which lets off a lot of steam (again alone in my room so that no one gets hurt or scared.) When I was working I would go into my office, close the door, and email a scathing letter to my home address about whatever it was that was causing me greif, (no names were used to protect my butt!) there was a lot of satisfation in pressing that send button even though it wasn't going anywhere but back to me!
