I'm new to this site and happened on it by chance.... I am a mother or 2, a 3 yo girl and a 10 month old boy. I hate my weight, and was actually happy with what I lost after I had my dd. Now losing after my ds is horrid! I am going through some post pardem issues, and had a cyst that kept me from returning to work, all of which have kept me from being as motivated as I should be. I just can't seem to get started. I need to lose the weigh, I want to play with my kids without getting tired, I want to pick them up and chase them without getting winded....I know its possible, I did it b4, but I feel lost since most of my friends are happy with their weight, no one wants a 'buddy' and that is how I did it last time. I had a nice support thing going, and I miss it. So when I came across this site I left my browser open so that I could come back this morning and check things out. I'm so glad that I did.... I read many things that I think will help me not only get started, but stay motivated as well. I have gone through my kitchen are fixed a section just for my healthy, low cal/fat snacks so that I am not tempted to browse and will stay on target....any suggestions as to what I should put in there? I have a few things, but I need variety or I will give up. Any tips that you have will help as well...
I know it takes time, I'm not looking for an overnight miracle, just anything to help me stay focused....I guess I need to get a tape measure too.....
any tips or encouragement would be appreciated, Thanks!
~Gina
so far I plan to cut calories and fats, but with two small children I don't think it will be easy. As for exercise, there are several things that I plan to do more of...walking, taking the kids out to play, isometrics (I prolly spelled that wrong), and maybe after a while get back into weights. I'm not really into running/jogging.... too busty for that to be comfortable. I have a mall thats close by, and I try to get there to walk, or play with my daughter in the enclosed play area... but we don't get there as often as we should.
Hi Gina! There's a great section for calorie counters down below this section in the main forum. I use a site called fitday.com that allows you to log everything you eat and it automatically calculates your calories and fats and protein and carbs and all. You can log your exercise as well and it gives you daily, weekly, or monthly averages if you want to look at your progress. It's free, which is a great bonus!
Glad you've found this site. There are some terrific folks here!
I'm glad to find a place that is upbeat, and with nice people... thanks to both of you for the warm welcome. I went to fitday and signed up, now I just have to remember to use it. I usually don't get a whole serving of anything, my lil ones like to share, so I think I will enter different amounts for the foods so that I can get an accurate number. I'm still trying to figure out both sites, I usually have just a few minutes at a time with my computer, so it may take a while 4 I get to everything.
Hi Gina, I am also a busy mom of two little ones. My DS just turned 2 and my DD is 6 mo. I am unhappy with my weight and want to get back to a place where I feel comfortable with my body. I feel so frustrated that it is hard to get good exercise with two kids, feels like I never have time. I too am rather busty and find running/jogging painful. So far walking with the kids in a stroller is what I have done and would like to do more of. If you want a "buddy" to lose with, it sounds like we have a lot in common!
