Im new Ive lost a little have a lot to go

  • I am new here looking for some new tips and support

I have been overweight since 12 when I went from 150 to 250 lbs.

Since that age I have climbed to over 300lbs wearing a tight size 28 pant.

I am a little uner 300 lbs right now and wearing a size 24 pant

I have hypothyroidism and I have been told I am pre-diabetic, so I really need to lose some weight for not only looking better but for my health.

I recently lost 7lbs doing a cabbage soup diet to kickstart my new eating plan of having more whole foods. This diet def. does not work in the long run as you get quite sick of cabbage soup! I think it did turn me on to making more choices for healthy foods, I find myself going for fruit and veggies more often.

I am currently eating a vegetarian diet. I have a soy protein shake for breakfast and lunch then I just eat a normal dinner. It sounds like slim fast but its not. Today was my 3rd day so I dont know how it will go as far as weight loss, I will update later on this.

I really feel like being overweight does not let me live the life I want to live. I am missing out on so much, and I find myself constantly planning stuff for "when I lose weight" I need to stop this thinking. Does anyone else do this?

    WELCOME and great suggestion.

A little advice take it or leave it. Lose weight doing something you can stick with for the rest of your life. If you can drink protein shakes and eat one healthy meal fine. I couldn't do that maybe you can.
Personally I started back here in January after reading YOU on a diet by Oz and Roizen. Then I read Superfoods by Pratt after reading Glory's long weight loss story. THOSE TWO BOOKS AND 3FC HAVE CHANGED MY WAY OF THINKING ABOUT FOOD FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE.

I now eat healthy food such as lots of vegetables, fruit, high fiber cereal and whole wheat tortillas, fish such as wild salmon, tuna, mahi mahi, buffalo, turkey, low fat dairy for example yogurt and light soy milk, nuts, and green tea. I consume about 1300 - 1400 calories a day. I exercise daily and drink plenty of water. I am never hungry and I make sure I sleep 7 - 8 hours a night. This has worked for me. I don't always have a weight loss but I haven't gained since Jan. 10th of this year.

    I wish you luck.
  • hey!
    Hello,jasmine. Hello everyone else,
My name is jazmine but lot of people call me jazy. How cool is that we are both jazmine, Jasmine.LOL!!!!
Anyway i am also looking to lose alot of weight. Right now I am at 265 and I need to get down to 150. Because I am 5'9" my weight right now isnt so obvious but everytime I look in the mirror I see stretch marks that werent there a year ago and fat where it never was before and it makes me want to cry. I am 19 years old and I find myself makig excuses to not go out in public to much and not to join the night life because I am so ashamed of my body. Even though this is the way I feel I am a very happy person and people who know me dont really even know I feel this way. The reason why I gained so much way was due to stress from college and work. Unfortunatly I havent learned how to deal with it yet but, is my priority right now!

Like you jasmine I am looking to lose some serious weight. I want to be 150lbs in time of graduation. So that gives me about 2 years. I lost 40lbs 3 years ago and went from 220lbs to 180lbs and was so happy. I looked great and got so many copliments. I have always been overweight so I really miss the 180lbs because it was soo different and I could do things I could never do before. I would give anything to fit into my size 12 pants that I used to were,LOL. I fit in an 18 and am soo ashamed to say so. But, something tells me that I will soo bounce back!YEAH!!

well, I am looking to lose weight and get some moral support!
good luck jasmine . let me know what kind of diet you are going to choose!!
  • Jasmine,

First of all, WELCOME and Congratulations on committing to yourself!

Second, why not try one of the things you've been planning for when you lose weight ... today?! You are equally as deserving of all things good at this weight as you will be of them when you have a smaller body.

    In Good Health,
    Carolyn

  • Hi Jasmine, I also have Hypothyriodism, You should not eat soy if you have hypothroid, I'v also learned that a high protien diet is usualy better for people with this condition, As long as its not from soy. There are some threads on hypothyriod here that you should read as well as on the net that will help you determine the best diet for hypothyriod. Good luck to you and welcome to the group.
  • That is interesting about the soy, I didnt know that I shouldnt have it. I am a vegetarian so that is how I get enough protein in my diet. .....I guess I should give my doctor a call to talk about some options. Thank you
  • Jasmine,

Congrats on your decision and on the weight loss. I have stopped eating meat and I get my protein from a whey protein shake and it seems to be doing the trick. Since I hate eating real food for breakfast I usually have it in the morning.

    Good luck on your journey!
  • Best of luck, Jasimine!! You are worth it and can do this. Keep good thoughts and always believe in yourself. Good luck with your weight loss efforts and looking forward on hearing you future success! Go Jasimine go!!
