Hello Everyone!!! New to this....

  • Hello to everyone!!

I'm new to this website and thought I'd introduce myself, My name is Amanda I am 23 years old and I have been working on my life modification since July 2006. My starting weight was somewhere over 360+ unfortunately I couldn't find a scale that actually went up any higher to determine my true weight, I'm 5'10 tall. I was diagnosed with hypothyrodism(underactive thryroid) in Sept 06 currently my weight is 255 lbs. Goal is 190!!! SO CLOSE!!! I do know that the medication I'm on has helped me loose so much so fast but I do work out twice a day during the week and my eating habits have changed incredibly! I have tried this before on numerous occasions and for some reason or another I'd quit, until I realized that you just can't call it a diet anymore!! This has to be a lifestyle change and you definetly have to be motivated and more determined than ever!! When my grandmother passed away in Sept I made a promise to her that I was going to lose all of my weight, feel good and be healthy and I'm well on my way!! Everyday I hope that she says my progress and she's proud of me! I would love to talk to anyone who needs a buddy/partner because I can definetly use one as well, it's not easy when you are exercising at night while your significant other is eating chips and cupcakes in the bedroom on the bed!
  • Hi Amada, welcome to 3FC!

Good for you for going to the doctor and finding out about your thyroid condition. Gosh, you have lost SO much weight!!!! That's really great!

I wish you the best as you continue your journey! Maybe you could ask your SO to eat the cupcakes somewhere else? Or not... Just so long as you can resist.

I'm sorry to hear about your grandmother. I'm sure she is very proud of you.

    Good luck!
    Jay
  • Amanda - I'm also an Amanda, and very close to your age.

We have forums here for people who are hypothyroid...its in the "Dieting with Obstacles" section. You might want to check it out to talk with others in similar situations.

Find a spot or several that feels like you fit, and post post post. Also, post in the general areas. Before you know it, you'll be getting more support than you can shake a stick at from the wonderful ladies and gents here.

Look forward to hearing more from you soon!

    Amanda
