Looking for a friend!
 
Hi everyone,

I am looking for a friend or two that we can become friends via email and motivate each other. I have been working on losing weight for over a year now and somedays it is hard to continue on. It seems like it is taking forever to come off. So it would be great to have a buddy that we can talk/vent/motivate each other to keep going!
I am a 35 year old single female from Ontario Canada.

Hi and welcome. I always assume that when someone asks for an email buddy ... that they find find one thru PM's and go about their friendship privately. I'm sorry you felt left out.

Have you done a bunch of reading here at 3FC? I find it very encouraging even when I'm not really talking to anyone. Free support 24/7.

Tell us a little more about what you're doing with your weight and we'll help you find some threads where you'll fit right in.

No problem I was just teasing really, I like to joke alot. :)
Thank you for the suggestion, I usually read through other messages, it is good to read other peoples opinions and suggestions on things.

I am counting calories I have found that has worked for me and going to the gym three days a week. Last year I lost 34 pounds, I would like to see better results this year as I know I could lose alot more in a year.

hopefully I have found the thread you told me about.

When you are counting calories how many do you have a day?

I really need to exercise - the only type I get is holding my lager glass in the pub!!! Going to try and get motivated after the next two weekends - St. Patricks Day this Saturday and I am going away next weekend for my birthday with my sisters and friends so will be lots of eating and drinking involved. :carrot: :devil: :carrot: the devil always seems to win.

I am a terrible example for exercising. I do a little bit of everything and anything (or nothing if I'm feeling slothful). Walking is the best ... I really like it and can do it almost any time I want. I throw a bit of jogging in. I have some weightlifting equipment and enjoy that too. I even put on my mp3 player and just dance around the house.

Let me have a peek at your fitday ... probably at this point your best bet is just to tweak your foods healthier and get more active.

I think i worked it out - will fill in a bit more of it when I have more time.

How long have you been dieting? I seem to have spent the whole of my life, or at least since I had my last daughter 26 years ago.

Have had dreadful weekend with too much alcohol - have had visitors over from Ireland for St. Patricks Day. Going to try and get back on track next week - am away this weekend so can't really do much.

Have booked holiday to Spain in August so that should give me some incentive - nobody wants to see a blobby on the beach!!

How did you manage to lose the weight then - did you go to a class light weight watchers or do you count calories? I did calorie counting years ago and it was quite good - have lost 2 stone probably over the past couple of years but have remained static for a while - need a push to get it going again. Wish I liked exercise - only thing I like is dancing.

how many calories do you allow yourself a day? Think when I counted it was 1200 a day which isn't that much really.

Do you find it easier to be good in the day or at nite time.

I think you would probably have a much better range of low-cal goods than we do. Where my sister lives in Florida her local store stocks most things in a low calorie alternative.

I did some checking at fitday so I could give you accurate numbers instead of 'what I think I'm doing' ;)
Over the last month ... I'm averaging 1500 cals per day and I've lost 1.8 lbs.
About the only low cal things I eat are diet coke and fat free italian dressing. Other than those, I try to eat real food. Chicken, fish, vegetables and fruit.
Day time is much easier. I'm not sure I'll ever conquer the night time snacking thing.
